1) Muhammad Ali 2) Lennox Lewis 3) Larry Holmes 4) Joe Louis 5) Sonny Liston 6) Vitali KLitschko 7) George Foreman 8) Joe Frazier 9) Mike Tyson 10) Riddick Bowe Those just missing the cut-Wladimir Klitschko,Jack Dempsey,Ezzard Charles and Jersey Joe Walcott. I've omitted Oleksandr Usyk for now,as he has not yet retired.I've got a feeling he will be recognised as a consensus top 10 ATG heavyweight-champion after he retires and his career is fully evaluated.
Muhammad Ali Joe Louis Larry Holmes/Rocky Marciano TIE 3RD George Foreman Evander Holyfield Joe Frazier Jack Dempsey Sonny Liston Ezzard Charles Jersey Joe Walcott
I checked boxrec, 2 judges scored it 83 - 88, 1 judge 82 - 89, all in favor of Vitaly. 23 fans scored it 88 - 83, again all in favor of Vitaly. I think you're biased.
Haha, to be fair on another day I might've posted that exact ranking as well! Perhaps it all depends on what I've had for breakfast!
Huh - @catchwtboxing is the only one who provided more than ten names. So you other guys' full ATG list is no longer than 10 names?
1-Ali 2-Lewis 3-Holmes 4-Foreman 5-Holyfield 6-Usyk 7-Louis 8-Tyson 9-Liston 10- Frazier Tough to argue w Ali at the top. He certainly doesn’t beat everyone on the list but the most versatile fighter that could beat more styles than anyone else. Had an IRON chin and will. Holmes was def great no question w 20 defenses but also vulnerable to right hands. Weak era imo and still had mighty struggles with older version of Norton, Spoon, Snipes, Shavers. Perhaps hosed in 2nd fight w Spinks but arguably gifted Williams fight. Tyson down the list because his candle burned out rather early. Pre Douglas he was one formidable opponent. H2H I feel that version beats any version of Holmes and gives most Atgs a run for their money, sans Foreman and maybe Liston. Lewis fought highly diminished version. Lewis gets knocked here for getting stopped by hugely underrated McCall and then Rach. He avenged both decisively. Dominated pretty tough solid list. Foreman claims him to be the best ever and there is a solid argument for it. I’m hugely impressed by Usyk’s run. Has to be the most consistent hvy of all time and I was inclined to put him even higher. I think he loses to prime Tyson but I’d be pressed to think that Foreman would beat him. Certainly old version does not. Young version has to get him early. I think Lewis with his length and vicious uppercut likely stops Usyk. Holy/Usyk is a toss up. Frazier could def pose issues as well. The next list would likely include, Vitili, Wlad, Fury, Johnson, Langford. Sorry Marciano, Dempsey fans. Dempsey fought zero black fighters. The Rock was the best of HIS day but at 5’10, 185 lbs and 68 in reach, I don’t put him in the top 15.
So because I score a fight differently I must be biased? I didn’t have a horse in the race between Vitali and Byrd.
