Fury-AJ needs to be Next (Makhmudov Post Fight Video)

One of the those tune-ups was an annihilation of a guy in Ngannou that most people thought beat Fury.

Another was the annihilation of a guy in Wallin who cut Fury bad and might have stopped him with another ref.

So there is all that.

 

Yeah that's fair, I was thinking more about Joshua before he lost to Ruiz, but point taken about Fury. Either way, the fight's appeal maxed out a long time ago.

 

I'd favour Joshua but it's not a foregone conclusion, especially post-crash.

Wallin also blatantly fouled (rubbing the cut with his glove) and was lucky not to get DQ'd.

 

Hearn has confirmed that it won't be next, and implicitly confirmed that it won't be this year.

 

Joshua has other things going on in his life right now and certainly needs at least one warm up fight. The thing is Joshua is known for being mentally weak,Ruiz 1 Usyk 1 Dubois fight. All three of those fights he had that forlorn look of defeat on his ring walk and he lost,and lost badly in two of those fights. Last night clearly showed that Joshua can not deal with Fury,instead of just replying that he needed a warm up fight which would have shut Fury down he started babbling about “clout chasing” and “landlords”,he just didn’t know what to say ! Can you imagine Joshua having to deal with Fury and his mind games if they do sign up to fight ! This fight is well past its sell by date and if it were to happen I’d be surprised if it happened before 2027 tbh. Ok it’s a massive fight mainly for British bragging rights but both are well passed there best,I’d rather see Kabayel v Usyk , Wardley v Dubois for World honours and see who comes through that as the Undisputed Heavyweight Champion tbh .

 

If Joshua needed four tune-ups to rebound after Usyk, how many will he need to rebound after Dubois?

I don't think this fight ever happens. Maybe if Fury goes on another bender and balloons up to 350lbs. Tyson looked too good, too confident last night for them to want him any time soon.

That is true but odes not negate what I said. AJ never took the cut like that.

 

It adds a bit of context. We shouldn't be giving fighters credit where they foul like that, and despite all of that Wallin still lost and was outclassed.

AJ might not take many cuts, but he's taken his fair share of canvas naps.

 

Yes, it was dirty, and yes, there is comparative advantage, but it is still an example of Fury struggling with someone AJ easily dispatched.

 

That's a very unfair assessment. It was a freak cut that was constantly been rubbed on to make the injury worse. Wallin should have been disqualified.

Maybe they should throw AJ in with Big Mahk to see how he goes, it would at least be a recent comparison.
