Fury is lacking a lot of characteristics of a successful professional, specifically in the work ethic/determination/diligence and character department. That's probably appealing to casual "fans" of the sport. To many longterm fans a lack of professional attitude is a deterrent rather than an attraction.
Give Fury a chance. He's had one really bad episode in his life arising from mental health issues and appears to have turned it around, training full time for a year now. If his second run in boxing is as successful as his first, he'll go down as an ATG. Having come from a very dark place, the man is currently happy, training v hard and taking on one of, if not the toughest task out there in Wilder. You don't have to like him, but I think he deserves respect for his turnaround. He's still a young man having just turned 30.
After his fight Fury is going to retire. After wasting my time watching him against Pianeta, I highly doubt it he came back to achieve something big. Looks like big Tyson needs some money and he found the right way making them. Just take a good look at the things: With what exactly Fury will bother Wilder in their fight? Movement? Trash talking? Skills? Fury isn't a huge puncher like Joshua, Ortiz, Povetkin or Wilder. His chances for a KO are below 10% in that fight, even though some people probably still doubt Wilders chin. Wilder needs just one shot and it's not like we haven't seen Fury going down against way smaller and not so powerful fighters. This ain't Klitschko which mentally got ****ed up against Fury. This is Wilder - he is younger and it's in his country. In his last fight against Ortiz he showed people that he can go to a war and win it. Fury is just cashing out after this one and he doesn't care about his fanbase if there is any left. P.S. I am not a Wilder fan.
Props if he wins, but he won't. I don't mind Fury winning this and I would've thought he was going to if he never quit and had all those problems. I just gave up on him after the Klitschko fight.
@Hattonmad dude, this seems like a desperate way to get some money. Everyone knows he was running out of money and he had to make that comeback at some point of his life.
First saw Fury was when he was still an amateur after catching a round or two of one his fights on TV. The next time I saw him was when he made his pro debut on ITV. I remember being impressed by his hand speed, boxing skills and body punching and thinking to myself that he had potential and skills and boxing ability you don't usually see in fighters his size. I didn't remember I'd actually seen him box before in the amateurs until months later. He looks sharper and better here in his pro debut than he did in his last 2 fights lol This content is protected Fury>>>Price>>>AJ This content is protected Here's Fury knocking out a fighter named Maurice Byarm in an Ireland vs US duel. It was the only loss Byarm, who was a pretty well thought of prospect as a pro for a while until he lost a UD to Bryan Jennings and then got brutalized by Magomed Abdusalamov in a couple of rounds on ESPN, suffered in the unpaid ranks (according to him that is) This content is protected
For every famous boxer there are both hardcore and casual fans, with both camps being able to go overboard and spout the biggest nonsense about their heroes. I'm anything but a Fury fan, but can still appreciate his skillevel and ability to move that huge body.
I agree in principal but it makes it difficult when certain fighters develop fanbase that spew bollocks ad nauseum
In his first run he beat an aging HOF fighter in a horribly boring fight, barely outlanding him. Then he retired. His resume is rather empty otherwise. If he does that again (beating nobodies like Seferi and then having one outstanding win, then retire on the spot and blow up to 400 lbs again) there is no way he will be ranked as an ATG. He will be ranked as an enigma.
Size, reach and especially skill advantage. A good boxer generally beats a puncher. Only a fool would bet against the Gypsy King, who's been here and done it before. I'll let Tyson do the rest on December 1.
He retired unified champion. If he does that again, he's undoubtedly an ATG. And surely Wladimir is an ATG.
