Just seen someone asking whether or not Ngannou punches harder than Wilder I thought these people would have learned their lesson from Mayweather vs McGregor. All the talk then was about about how McGregor had this massive power and a real punchers chance, yet once they got in there it quickly became clear that by boxing standards McGregor was laughably featherfisted and someone like Paulie Malignaggi genuinely punches a lot harder.
This week's gathering reminds me of a certain crypto launch , can't put my finger on exactly where and when !!!!
There are some MMA legends too - they aren't as 'royal' as the likes of Tyson, Holmes, Lewis, etc because it's a younger sport and was niche in their day, but top rank nonetheless. If you can't celebrate a night of legends in the blue-riband division of two sports, regardless of who's paying, fair enough. Nobody complains when the BBC pays for a thousand z-list show jumpers and women footballers to turn up for its annual sports awards, it's no different than that other than the location and the fact it's our money rather than an oil sheikh.
The only thing I agree with here is the activity level. Muhammad Ali had a crossover fight in 1976 but he also fought four times including two top-ranked wins and two voluntaries outside the US. It's just not the done thing any more though. I couldn't see AJ doing this kind of fight because he'd be scared to look bad for his sponsors, but you could see Whyte or Chisora being thrown at it, as part of a 2-fight-a-year cycle, if the UFC side had been remotely interested.
If you put a light punching heavy like Parker in 4oz gloves he’d look like prime Foreman. This guy is going to look feather fisted and a big stiff idiot
I'm not saying that Fury-Ngannou is a good fight but it's certainly no worse than a fight against Franklin, Takam or someone like that. It's a myth that MMA *heavyweights* are featherfisted as soon as they don a pair of 10oz gloves. Tai Tuivasa, Mark Hunt and Greg Hardy have all exhibited a decent level of KO power after making a quick transition to boxing and Ngannou is regarded as a significantly more dangerous MMA striker than those guys.
Certainly shows that so called sports washing is unbelievably successful. Not been much talk about human rights this week while the Saudis have been front and centre of sports news.
