It's not rocket science. AJ Usyk 2 was not a particularly punishing fight in August 20. December 3 is exactly 15 weeks later. Gives AJ 4 weeks to rest, 10 weeks to train (coming into camp fit) and 1 week before fight. or whatever way he likes it. It's good amount of time. It's fine schedule. "but, but, but, but you don't understand boxing. They need 12 or 14 week training camp and they need blah, blah, blah" and "Fury's handicapped him! It's an outrage!" nah, **** off, for an active fighter professional, hes getting plenty of notice. It's funny that some boxing fans would like to wait an extra 2 weeks for a fight that's like at least 12:weeks away anyway. you might get hit by a bus on December 16 and never get to see the fight at all. Haha
For a fight of this magnitude, it's funny to see boxing people talking about belts and voluntaries. Those things have got nothing to do with this fight.
exactly it is just splitting hairs. So why can't AJ fight on the stadium Warren has booked for December 3? Fury prefers December 3. That's the offer. Maybe they are both being petty. But that's the offer. I see no reason why AJ would turn down December 3. This is a big opportunity for him. He has nothing to lose.
That's all well an good but what's wrong with fighting on December 17th ? as i already said if Warren booked a stadium for 17th then just have the Joshua fight on 17th, 2 weeks is not going to make a difference to a possible Usyk fight next year. If Joshua can get himself ready by December 3rd then fair enough, but it just seems like alot of unnecessary drama for nothing. November is definitely not a fair date though.
Hope AJ accepts the 3rd of December. This really feels like Fury has had his bluff called and is moving the goal posts. I have no dog in this fight but it seems for whatever reason Fury is trying to wiggle out of it with the deadline talk.
I'm not concerned with December 17 because that's not been offered. But speculating, I suspect Fury is still looking to retire or semi retire next spring now and had genuinely thought December unification with Usyk was going to be his swansong. But with Usyk saying " no, next year" Fury needs a tune up, to keep himself in the game, so he wants a fight in November. But he'll go to December 3 for Joshua. Or he wants to go watch the World Cup or something. Who cares what his plans are for the 17th. All we need to know is December 3 Good offer Plenty of time No excuses AJ will say yes surely
I'm excited for the fight TBH i really hope Joshua accepts the December 3rd offer, i think this is a more competitive fight than alot of people think.
Lennox Lewis and VItali Klitschko fought each other on 10 days notice. Fury's in shape. Joshua is in shape. Just sign the deal. Christ.
Fury never moved goal posts. He called out AJ on video and said he'd send AJ the date. They offered November 12. Which was too soon for AJ. So he's offered November 26 and December 3 now. on September 7th, he offered December 3rd. That's 87 days notice, that's 12;weeks and 3: days. But people are acting like hes giving Joshua no time. It's plenty of time. Everyone can see that
These Fury haters crack me up AJ will rather stay irrelevant then take on this challenge. AJ had a good run, but a bodybuilder is a bodybuilder and he got figured out. Fury will fight a decent opponent nov/dec before fighting Usyk in early spring (if Usyk is rdy?)
Exactly these young fans haven't got a clue. Mike Tyson fought big world title fighte on March 7, May 30, August 1st, October 16th in 1987. They went 12, 6, 12 and 7 rounds. Larry Holmes, Muhammad Ali, Lennox Lewis Joe Louis fought every month! And his challengers turned up and gave it their best shot on very little notice . The boxers are in shape. If an in shape professional can't prepare for a fight on 12 weeks notice now, boxing has become worse than I thought!
funny thing is, apparently according to people here AJ needs these 12 or 14 week training camps then declares he's not even a 12 round fighter! He trains for months and can't even do 12 rounds at good pace, by his own admission.
