Environmental effects can exasperate depression and bipolar disorder. For example, divorce, death in the family, job loss, even the dark cold weather. I would include being left in limbo by a faceless organisation for 2 years is right up there.

It sounds odd, but the come down from achieving his dream of winning the world title would have been huge and it’s absolutely no surprise that he self medicated (like many do with bipolar) with cocaine. Combined with the way the media slated him for his comments and the feeling that the whole world is against him...well, just look at the state of him now.

Just to add, he would definitely have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder...you don’t even need to sit in a room to see it. It’s not something that is diagnosed with blood tests or whatever, it’s just a set of questions from a psychiatrist.

He has claimed it, or others have.
If he has been diagnosed as such, he would have been prescribed proper medication. There’s no indication that he’s taken it as prescribed for any period of time. So if he’s not taking his meds, that’s on him.

I don’t see him as a victim. He spews hatred toward groups of people ... but it’s the media’s fault for reporting what he says (including stupid things he says on social media, which anyone can see and object to even if not a word was written or reported in the press).

His own behavior got him in the situation he is in: he’s the one who failed a test, he’s the one who told a tester to “— off” when one came to collect a sample, which counts as a second failed test. For him to be in limbo ... he’s retired a number of times and hasn’t obtained a license (nor applied for one) in forever, so why would they not put him in the back of the queue and deal with active, unretired athletes who deserve hearings when he himself has said his career is over?

No one seemed to think his mental health was an issue when he defeated Wlad ... “Oh that Tyson’s a funny one” was all we heard. When he had a breakdown at a weigh-in and went on a rant about being “stitched up” and pulled out of a fight, there was an opportunity to say “Tyson, you’re not rational, we need to get you professional help.” Instead, an excuse was created to spare him the consequences of his own behavior.

When he showed up in a Batman costume at a press conference, everyone laughed at the funny clown. And on and on. He could have gotten help. He chose not to get that help.

I’m sympathetic to a point with his mental illness situation, but that sympathy goes to him as a human being. I hope he finds some peace and the proper treatement and that HE makes the choice to stick to it. I don’t have sympathy for him as a boxer because his situation is of his own making, and his athletic career is of little consequence compared to whether he does harm to himself or others.

He’ll have been prescribed mood stabilisers mate, but also encouraged to continue working hard in the gym, eating and sleeping well. There’s a possibility he’ll have talking therapy and taught to recognise when he was going on a downer. I’ve no idea whatsoever if he’s chosen to take the medication...it’s all personal preference. Some people don’t want to take medication for various reasons, it’s not for everyone.

He failed the test but it could be a legitimate reason ie the wild boar with its nads still on. No matter what though, he deserves to be treated exactly the same as every other boxer. He shouldn’t be put to the back of queue for being outspoken...that would prove what he says all along, that the powers that be are stifling him.

His mental illness has been an issue for many many years. I remember reading about it as far back as 2010. You’re right, we do overlook these things when he’s winning titles and acting daft in press conferences. We lapped up the batman costume, the singing in the ring...these are the manic things...taking cocaine, telling testers to f*** off, putting on weight, retiring...these are behaviours when he crashes. Imo his mental illness has to be considered and not held against him.

I’m losing my flow here mate. I think we’re both on the same page though, i’m not disagreeing with everything you’re saying...as a boxing fan I just want to see him back in the game. He is entertaining inside and outside the ring.

Has he been out the ring because of elevated nandrolone levels, or because he has openly admitted to taking cocaine, refused a doping test, battling health issues and hasn't looked remotely in any shape for fighting at world level again...

I'm pretty sure he just called the poofs a bunch of wrong-uns which can be filed under religious nuttery. Hardly what you'd call hatred.

Didn't he have a go at Zionists and not the Jewish faith as a whole? Big difference.

This every other group of people don't exist do they? Just like the hatred. Less of the hyperbole.

Sell newspapers though and headlines are enough to get general public to believe them especially if its credited to a white guy saying it.
