so i wont mention the people who doubted my boy nick to win last night, however i will now pose the question that i think everyone is thinking about right now which is do you think my boy nick has what it takes to beat gsp after last night's performance? If not please discuss why and if yes state why cheers guys! :good
Yes he does, his boxing is very good so is his BJJ but the only thing that would and should concern diaz is GSP wrestling because he will want no part of Nick on his feet. I hope went they meet its not a typical lay and pray boring ud for Gsp.
yea but i think if he versus gsp he will workoff his back unlike the other fighters that gsp has smoothered.
His boxing is terrible and grossly overrated. That said Diaz presents an enigma for many of his opponents at welter because he's relentless. He has length, spiteful power in both mitts, a great chin, and his excellent on the mat. Those are 4 great attributes that many fighters in and around his weight class simply do not possess. His unorthodox striking and tenacity are what win him fights. I said he'd beat Penn and make it look easy. That's exactly what he did. Id put good money on him doing exactly the same to GSP. If GSP could turn back the clock to GSP that fought Matt Hughes the second time then id expect GSP to stand him on his head. But that GSP is consigned to history. This version of GSP is a watered down Greg Jackson clone who doesn't like to engage and doesn't have the fire in his belly he once had.
You got good points but the only thing that makes me think GSP will try to keep it standing is the way he fought Shields, also, Diaz is awesome at BJJ. Sure GSP is extremely good at BJJ and has his black belt and not many guys stand a chance with him, but I believe Diaz is better.
Diaz's BJJ kills GSP. But GSP is absolutely a better striker than Diaz. But he won't like to exchange with Diaz and nor will he like to get hit consistently or often. GSP doesn't have the will, tenacity or the chin of Diaz or BJ. As soon as he gets hurt he crumbles.
Diaz will be embarrassed much like GSPs other opponents. May not be exciting by GSP will dominate 4/5 of each round. He's much stronger and more athletic than Diaz and diaz isn't even faster I don't think. He's a better boxer but GSP ain't gonna stand up and trade all night like Penn. Much less gas after 1 round like penn
I think Diaz poses a lot of new problems for GSP, no one has ever beat on BJ like Diaz did. I know GSP beat him no questions asked in their second fight, but he really just lay n prayed BJ with really good control. Even though Diaz isn't as good as GSP technically with striking he will still throw more punches and GSP will get cut up. I honestly think it is going to be an excellent fight.
I'll always pull for my Diaz brothers, but it won't be easy.. I hate to say it, but I'm leaning towards GSP to stall with his wrestling or end up being the clear winner. Nick doesn't cover up, and GSP has some pretty decent hands (Koscheck anyone?). GSP has more then hands.. Along with a highly successful takedown and top game. Diaz could very well come on strong, and pull out this fight, but will he be finished before then with that open defense? Will he be wrestle ****ed round after round? I'm not sure yet, but my only hope is that GSP comes to fight and finish, because he has been safety first since Matt Serra took his title, and it just does my effing head in.
i said from the word go that he was going to curbstomp penn but im not getting carried away. GSP is kryptonite to diaz. a sublime wrester with a safety first approach he will dump nick on his back and keep him there every chance he gets. but more importantly GSP isnt the type to bring emotion to his fights and wont give nick that extra emotional fuel that he thrives off.
Diaz has shown that his style of boxing is pretty effective. He can fight tall, take a great punch and give back 3-4 for every one he eats. It has served him very well against very dangerous strikers. GSP won't want to mix it up with him. When he tries, I'll bet he will be able to land that really nice jab, but then he will have to eat 2-3 punches because Georges didn't really try to follow up with more punches. He uses that jab to keep guys off balance, but Diaz isn't a guy who will get punched and not try to immediately retaliate. He will eat the jab and try to return shots, and wont give Georges any breathing room. I'll bet it goes down like this.. IF Georges tries to stand with Diaz, he will start with the jab, and what I just said would happen, will happen. As soon as Georges eats a few punches and realize he can just take Diaz down and avoid submissions, he will do that.. I don't think Georges will try to sub Diaz on the ground, nor will he be able to inflict much damage. But he will win the U.D.
