Im not a hater of this kid, dont really know enough about him. And I think that his win was a good win for were he is in his career. What Im saying is what I said about Judah, this kid is very flawed, in a way that you cant afford to be flawed in boxing. He will be one shot ko'd, mark it down as me having said it.:yep I think that once that happens he will go on to be a pretty good fighter.
This fight, and that flash knockdown, may just be the wake-up call to let him know he needs to start keeping his hands up more against worthy opposition. The guy is a very good fighter. A few tweeks and he will be ready to fight the best. Right now I feel he just needs some good tutelage. Great win btw. :good
Alright, here are all my thoughts on Gamboa.. He may have looked good last night and no doubt he has potential to be a great fighter, but still needs a lot of work to do.. I have had people tell me that Gamboa can beat the likes of Pacquiao & Campbell at this point, but if you was to replace Jimenez last night with someone like Pacquiao, JMM, or Campebell, I believe Gamboa would have been KO'd.. Gamboa danced around basically the whole fight because he wasn't pressured at all.. He kept his hands down and got hit a lot.. He may have kept them down, because he felt confident, but he kept them down despite being hit several times, even after being knocked down.. Jimenez was really not a challenge for Gamboa, but he did get in a lot of shots.. People are also saying that Jimenez was a tough challenger that has never been down before, but he was also on a year layoff, did not look all that good, and tired out quickly last night.. You might also say he tore up Jimenez's face last night, but will Jimenez not fighting in a minute had caused his skin to soften up, making it more easily to bruise.. I'm not trying to put him down at all, just trying to tell the Gamboa fans that he need's a couple more years of fighting before he tries to fight any of the fights I've already mentioned.. His best challenge would be Edwin Valero, another fighter who needs work and shows a lot of flaws.. Both of these fighters would get hit by each other throughout a fight, with Valero swinging those looping hooks and Gamboa using his fast hands on the inside.. Gamboa is God? No way. Gamboa is still a prospect and people are acting as if he is not.. People are being hasty with him, but he need's time.. Like I said before, no doubt Gamboa will be a great fighter in a few years, but there's still a lot of work to be done..
i got to admit that last night was my first time watching Gamboa fighting , the kid got some skills, but some in his camp need to tell him to keep his guard up!!! I dont think it was that he was overconfident the reason that he keeps his gloves down, i think it is a bad habit he cant get rid off. Other than that very impressed with him. If he can correct that he will be a hell of a boxer.
Gamboa is good, I don't think he's "God" He displayed some pretty good skills, good hand speed, descent work rate. But he's a fighter that bases himself on his talents. His fundamentals are not very good. He appeared to be off balance a few times in the fight, he doesn't keep his hands up enough which WILL cost him against elite fighters. From what I hear there's ALOT of people saying that he's ready for the elite guys like Pacquiao etc because of his amateur backround and the amount of fights he has as an amateur. I say if he was ready for the for the elite he would not have been dropped against a guy like Jiminez, and would not have made so many fundamental mistakes that a fighter of his amateur backround shouldn't have. If i'm not mistaken there's some people that think he can take Pacquiao right now:-( I say give this guy some time to improve and better himself as a pro. He still has some amateur flaws that he has to change. Pacquiao right now would destroy this kids career. But he's ok, he's good. He's not "God"
:huh Not hurt at all??? He pretty much backed up the rest of that round and held on more times than hes ever held on in his professional carreer combined, how could he have not been hurt?
Its possible. But the shot was directly behind the ear(even when you see those behind the ear shots coming they **** you up) and he was in a horrible position with his legs to be able to regain balance from it. The knockdown was certainly legit, but Gamboa is a freak, he has had 400+ fights in his life with his hands down. His chin has to be iron and his defensive movement and offensive variety is absurd. I was extremely impressed. There isn't a single fighter in boxing today that can do what this guy does. He has flaws yes but I don't mind them since it makes things interesting
I would not go as far as to call Gamboa a God but i will say he has very good physical abilities now if he would just keep his hands up.
I don't understand how people can say a fighter was exposed despite him winning every round, completely battering his opponent around the ring by fighting in so many defensive/offensive styles all within 12 rounds. And just because he took a nasty shot behind the ear and went down and got up instantly, he was "exposed" and now has a "glass jaw" lmao. Some of you queers are sad. There isn't a fighter in boxing today that has a variety of defensive and offensive tools that Gamboa has today. There certainly are more sound fighters like Mayweather, but hes the p4p #1 boxing today and Gamboa only has 10 fights
Please come help out the Pavlik fans with this argument when the Pavlik china chin agenda gets brought up again. Thanks in advance.
Very true Pavlik was hit BEHIND the ear. It affected his equilibrium. Had nothing to do with his chin.
