as a main event, I wouldn't think of paying a quarter to see. Another stream fight for Showtime that doesn't get 700,000 views. Postol would have been a much better contest.
yes we know!! it sucks.....we all know it....but i will reserve complete judgment till after the fight....theyve had some paper mismatches that have turned into decent fights or at least more competitive than we thought..... i dunno...espinoza says that they couldnt make garcia/peterson for august(not sure why) but hes pushing for it
Even if they couldn't make Danny and Peterson for August(makes no sense both fighting same day) there had to have been better options than this. I really hope this isn't a recurring problem because I've noticed,a few times, cards have one popular guy fighting a nobody. Champs are supposed to defend the title against top contenders. There's no such thing as a tune up when you're champ. It reminds me of wrestling from 15 years ago.
Matthysse has already knocked out Peterson and is the real IBF champion, should be a rematch. Herrera beat Garcia, so Garcia should rematch Herrera or Matthysse....................I will not even bother to watch those fights..........
What kind of opponent is this? Is Garcia not supposed to be an elite fighter? And he's fighting a lightweight who has already lost 3 times and has absolutely no knockout power, what a bum.
Not Espinoza's fault most likely. Blame Garcia and his management team. On the upside, Jacobs vs Fletcher for the vacant WBA regular title should be a fast paced fun fight to watch with plenty of glass shattering potential on both sides. Fletcher was panned as an opponent for GGG and rightfully so, but Jacobs-Fletcher is a perfectly even matchup.
If Peterson-Garcia fight each other later this year, for the unified championship, then this can be overlooked.
Absolutely stupid, pointless fight. The guy is ranked THE 77TH BEST LIGHTWEIGHT in the world, but gets THE man at junior welter. Danny could've fought any, ANY of the top 20 light welterweights, welterweights, or even stuck to the top ranked 25 lightweights in the world and it would've been a better option than Salka. Oh, and Herrera didn't get a rematch because he's "moving on to bigger fights" WHAT A JOKE! And I was a big Danny fan! How do you go Khan Morales Judah Matthysse Herrera F'N SALKA!!!
Garcia should be trying to avenge one of his losses to Herrera or Ashley Theophane... Instead they feed him a thrice beaten lightweight with 3 KO's in 19 fights, can't believe Showtime approved this rubbish
