It was the worst stoppage I've seen this year. He beat the count, he was not seriously hurt and ready to fight.
That was bad referring on the highest level. The ref needed to give verbal command to ensure the fighter is fit to continue. As a hurt fighter you can take a knee and get up at the last second or even try and walk it of. It is now up to the ref to establish that the fighter is ok to continue. He asked him to come forward which he did. He can ask him how he feels and other verbal command. Instead this dumb ref ask him to come forward and waves it of. One of the worst stoppage.
Can't see the fighter's eyes from that camera angle, they could have gone crossed as he was being looked over by the ref. If that is not the case, then it's one of the worst stoppages I've ever seen in 50 years of watching fights!
Nothing wrong with it, just another brutal KO to be added to Calzaghe's tally. Oh... I mean Russell of course!
The only person to blame in that situation is bartholomy. However i think he was hurt bad because every fighter knows protocal and if not then he did that on purpose cuz he knew the fight would get stopped
Absolutely one of the worst stoppages I've ever seen. Guy hadn't even take much punishment was in the fight got up and he waved it off. Horrible ref who needs to be fired
It was the ref that didn't follow protocol he never said "go left go right, are you ok, do you want to fight ????? He just said "walk to me" then waved it off Obvious corruption in my book plus the ref probably had $$$$ on Russell himself
walks away turning his back? what he does is to go to the corner, nothing else, nothing more. I always prefer an early stoppage, but this stoppage is total BS, if not total corruption. Btw, I couldnt watch the fight? which round? how about the scorecards at this moment? barthelemy is not a fighter easy to win to, and I dont care about his record/oposition, he knows his job. Good victory by antuanne, props to him. EDIT: 49-46, antuanne winning. It doesnt seem corruption then. Stupid stoppage, though.
How was he non compliant? The only thing the ref asked him was to walk to him which Rance did. Ref didn't ask him to step to the side, ask if he wanted to continue etc. Normally the ref does more. Good thing this ref wasn't in the 1st Wilder/Fury fight. Wilder would have had a KO.
Shouldnt even have got to that point. Soon as he gets up, turns back and walks away....thats a waive off 10/10 garunteed
