On the scene theres an interview with Gary Shaw where he says in the Maidana vs Cayo March 27th WBA interim title fight on HBO there is a contract clause stating the winner cannot fight Khan for 3 fights. Those 3 fights are guarenteed HBO dates.

Crazy but if true what a joke.

Says 3 fights or 12 months - whatever comes first. Pathetic if its true.

    Does Gary Shaw promote Cayo?
How would he know of such information?

hbo shouldn't be promoting, but to be fair it all depends on who khan's next 3 opponents are, if they are building him up as an attraction in the US beating maidana is not as good as malignaggi/jmm etc to the average joe

Shaw said he made a very good offer for Bradley to fight Maidana and couldn't believe GBP said no.

He tried to find out why and apparently numerous boxing insiders have heard that Golden B+y wanted Maidana-Cayo so they could force this stipulation on them.

If this is true, it's disgraceful.

I actually think Khan would out-box Maidana if they fought now - Golden Boy apparently disagree.

GBP have already got thier young future star beaten up by Maidana in Victor not to say Khan would suffer the same fate but their is a risk he could land that lucky punch then that can have a big effect on their plans for Khan in the U.S. If Khan gets past JMM in his next fight then have another with Paulie and win that, I say Khan would be then ready for the best fighter at 140 which is Bradley. This could be HBO/GBP this years plan to bypass the high risk, low reward fight in Maidana and focus on name fighters.

Khan is just a commercial fighter not a real fighter.

A young Barrera would have just fought whoever they threw in front of him.

A young Cotto would have just fought whoever they threw in front of him.

A young Cesar Chavez would have just fought whoever they threw in front of him.

A young Tyson would have just fought whoever they threw in front of him.

A young Mosley or Morales would have just fought whoever they threw in front of him.

Khan is acting like a paper champion avoiding all these proper fights.

In my opinion, so would Khan - it's just that Golden Boy don't seem too eager to put Maidana in front of him.

I don't blame Khan for this - do you seriously think he ran to Oscar and Schaefer and asked them to make sure he doesn't have to fight Maidana for a year?

Nah, he probably just casually slipped it into the conversation. Something like this:

All three sitting around a table eating sushi off the naked bodies of far eastern beauties.

    Oscar: Amir, more champagne?

    Khan: Sure thing Oscar.

Oscar: Please, call me Golden Boy.

    Khan: Ok......Golden Boy.

Oscar and Khan laugh girlishly, while Schaefer ejaculates over his sushi.

Oscar: So, we're thinking of putting you in with Old Man Marquez next.

    Khan looks stunned.

    Khan: Thats.....well, thats....great (smiles uneasily).

Oscar: Don't worry, he's well past his sell-by date, fighting above his natural weight category, and Floyd softened him up pretty good in his last fight. It'll be like Barrera all over again.

Khan: But what if I don't cut him early. Plus, the commision almost caught me with the razor blades in the glove against Marco. I ended up having to eat them; wasn't a walk in the park later on when I had to **** them out again, I'll tell ya that for nothing.

Oscar: Don't worry about it (puts consoling hand on the shoulder), Schaef's has got it all worked out.

Schaefer pulls a butterfly knife out of his pocket with his free hand and nods meaningfully.

    Khan seems to relax.

    Khan: That seems alright then.

Oscar: Yeah, that a boy. Then after Marquez we'll get you Paulie Malignaggi. He can't punch worth a ****, but we''ll make doubly sure just in case.

Schaefer opens his coat to reveal a medium sized hammer.

    Khan nods.

Khan: But what about Maidana, he's the mandatory. I'll tell you something for nothing (pause for dramatic effect) I wouldn't mind giving him a miss for a while (looks at Oscar knowingly).

Oscar winks, Amir nods, Schaefer eats some sushi.

Ah tis only fair, Khan can't be facing the young hungry guys in the division.

Better wait till they've beaten strips off each other for a while, till one of them gets the honor of facing King Khan.

After all, he did beat the weakest Champion in the division.

Why's everyone getting so p!ssed off about Maidana? He's sh!te. Yes he's got a dig and we know Khan's biggest weakness is his jaw, but really, Maidana is pedestrian and Khan would box his head off.

Malignaggi is a better opponent. Marquez - difficult to tell given his last outing was against Floyd.

Khan wouls destroy Maidana. The fight is a **** mismatch. JMM is still very good and the hardest fight Khan can take.
