Where on earth do these bizarre "KHAN WOULD DESTROY MAIDANA" commments come from. I agree Maidana is overhyped but we know nothing of Khan's abilities at this level. He has yet to fight anyone who is a real test. In perspective

    ***an - A Journeyman

Barrera - A legend but sadly completely passed his prime and was having problems taking out nobodys such as the 1-6-1 chap. As I understand it was seeing the state of Barrera fighting in China that promted Frank Warren to try make the fight.

Kotelnik - In my opinion a European level fighter at best although a good chin

Salita - A guy that nobody seriously believed would pose a threat to Khan

Khan does have amazing speed and looks far more professional under Roach, but lets not forget that we know very little about how he will cope at a high level and more importantly how he can cope when he's facing somebody that is an actual threat, which has not happened since the prescott fight. We know nothing other than that he has potential

I guess they are trying to build momentum for a Khan-Maindana fight somewhere down the line. Sort of like Arum is doing with Lopez/Gamboa, rather than just making it straight away.

Anyhow, since when did Maindana become a fighter worthy of ducking. Old and blown up JMM may be, but he's still streets ahead of Maindana.

Marquez is by far the superior boxer, but sometimes styles make fights, and maybe a wild banger like Maidana, who's a natural LWW, is more of a threat to Khan.

Its the old refutation of the ABC argument again: Kotelnik beats Maidana and Khan beats Kotelnik. Maybe Maidana beats Khan though.

    Shaefer confirms

Maidana agreeing to fight Cayo is part of a plan in which he's agreed to delay his mandatory fight with full titleholder Amir Khan, Schaefer said. "Everything is worked out," he said. "Maidana is going to continue to be the interim champion and we're going to promote three fights for Maidana, including March 27, and it will lead to a fight with Khan. We'll build Maidana here in the U.S. and give him great fights, and the same with Amir. If they keep winning, then you'll have the big fight sometime next year." Schaefer said a fight he discussed with HBO and Maidana, which Maidana is interested in, is a match with the winner of the March 6 Devon Alexander-Juan Urango unification fight, which HBO is carrying. Another one would be for Maidana to face the winner of the planned May 15 fight between Victor Ortiz and Nate Campbell. Maidana stopped Ortiz in June in an upset. Schaefer also said Maidana is open to facing titleholder Tim Bradley on Showtime. "The point is, there are a lot of great fights we can make in the division," Schaefer said. "We discussed the Bradley fight, but Maidana didn't want to fight him at this point, the main reason being is he didn't want to wait to June, which is when I think Showtime's next available date was. But he would fight Bradley too."

GBP probably has to offer Amir a 3/4 fight deal to get him to move from Frank Warren, he didnt do it cheaply thats for sure. If Amir gets beat in his first fight then it will be money down the drain. They need to protect their investment in my opinoin. Im not saying its right but thats the way boxing is right now, all the promoters protecting their fighters instead of throwing up 50/50 purses for 50/50 fights.

Just sounds like they're waiting for Maidana to lose so that he doesn't have to fight Khan so he can continue to fight fighters like JMM, Paulie and I dunno Victor Ortiz then end up fighting Bradley where there isn't much shame in losing, unlike the high risk low reward Maidana. Or am I just a hater :think

Dont get me started on this, khan is just a cashcow and deserves an illness if he is avoiding maidana, its funny how he fights a mandatory in salita but not a proper fighter like maidana who is a mandatory. he was inline for a shot before khan muscled his way in, and should fight maidana as he is a 'champ'. In my eyes a champ fights whoever comes anytime, anyplace, anywhere. Khan is a coward and the uk is a better place without the gutless *******..
