Gene Fullmer v Jake La Motta

At the end of his pretty arduous career and its not as though Jake is Willie Pep anyway. He certainly has a certain amount of predictability about his style.

I didnt see Tiger outboxing Gene really, it was more the less battle weary man bashing the other one..I havent seen all 3 fights I must admit.

I think you are totally misunderstanding what Im trying to get at...Im not saying that Fullmer is a skillful technician compared to what we consider skillful technicians..But he was capable of more then just slugging it out..That being said so was Jake, something I might overlooked a bit.

 

So was everyone who went at Tiger. LaMotta likely would've been too. In fact, LaMotta's style was even more made for Tiger than Fullmer's was.

Tough fight to call. I think LaMotta has the advantage on the inside, but Fullmer is the better boxer and more well-rounded.

It comes down to who is able to make his fight more.

 

This is a tough one to call. I agree that Fullmer is the better boxer of the two but LaMotta can hit a little harder. Maybe Gene's better boxing skills would give him the edge. As to the fact of Tiger outboxing Fullmer in their fights, that isn't exactly what happened. Dick outslugged Gene when the two went head to head. But Gene outboxed Tiger when he went that route especially in their second fight.
