Sorry to tell you there was no wearing down Gene Fullmer. Hagler was made for Fullmer's style. Fullmer would of beaten him in a UD, Not by boxing IMO. He would win by being the brawler he was.

Your makin it seem like Auntofermo won that fight. It wasn't even close 11-4-1. Fullmer doesn't have the speed and boxing ability to beat Hagler. Hagler by decision or late stoppage would be what I'd go by.

Hagler, and because of his chin. I think than most people that would counter punch Fullmer at the distance Hagler would've elected, would have ended up not finishing the fight. Hagler UD.

Who needs speed when your fighting CHEST to CHEST though>?? I mean not even the great Ray Robinson was not able to used his speed to keep Fullmer off him.

Ray Robinson wasn't the same fighter when he fought Fullmer. Robinson wasn't as strong as Hagler. Everyone know's that if you beat Hagler you better have speed. Fullmer doesn't have that, Hagler was a strong guy. Gene would not be able to muscle him for 15 round's.

Of course I've seen the first Sugar Ray Robinson fight. The two fight's with Dick Tiger. He muscled up Robinson and Basillio big deal, two welterweight's. When he tried to do that to Dick Tiger, he got his ass beat. Hagler's almost as strong as Tiger and has more power.

Sonny Carson, were the two fights (Tiger/Fullmer)... complete fights or just highlights?

The point is that Fullmer tried to impose his will on opponets. It worked against Robinson, Basillio, and Paret because they were really welterweight's/junior middleweight's. When he was finally matched against a fighter with his kind of strength(Tiger) he was beaten.

No...Sonny Carson I'm not trying to debate with you. I just wanted to know if there were two complete fights (video) of the Fullmer/Tiger series. I thought just the 3rd fight was complete, is there another?
    I collect fights....thanks.

Fullmer was on the way out by the time he fought Tiger though.

It will depend on the referee I think.

With a modern day ref that's a stickler about clinching and rabbit punching, Gene gets penalised plenty of points and loses big.

With a ref that let's clinching and rabbit punching go, it becomes a lot closer, and Gene possibly edges Marvin.

He also lost a close 15 round decision, then they fought to a draw, before he was TKO'd in 7 in their 3rd and final meeting. Which was also Fullmer's last fight.
