Gene Tunney vs. Joe Louis

    Tunney one of the very best as we all well know, but im just not picking him here, the very best are sometimes overlooked here i believe, Joe Louis was of the finest HWs ever, and he would win this imo

    Tunney is the single best bet to beat Louis in the whole history of the sport in my opinion.

    I'd back him over every other fighter. Still, he's not much better than 50/50. A rematch would be interesting - but here's the gold standard. I'd favour Tunney, slightly, for 2/2.

    Jack Johnson is another fine bet, but he'd get his head kicked in second time around.

    I give a resounding 'yes' to everything Holmes' Jab stated. I have my reservations about Tunney as a heavyweight; I wouldn't favor him over the true behemoths of the sport, even those who showed weakness for boxer-types.

    He was a magnificent 175 pounder, but Joe Louis probably catches him late.
