I'm a big fan of what I have seen of Tunney but have to say I have not seen enough. Beating a faded Dempsey is not the same as beating a prime Langford ... Gene did have the speed and style. I just do not know if he had the strength and stamina to fight off Langford over 15. I don't think we have seen enough of Tunney to be sure ...
meh... the color line works both ways in regards to these match-ups. tunney never had to prove himself against godfrey or wills, but likewise they did not have to risk their esteemed positions versus tunney. it's not ethically fair, but it in an intellectual sense, tis true. i still take prime tunney in this one, especially over ten rounds.
He may have fought more big men, but he wasn't a big man himself. Greb probably fought more big men than Tunney but Tunney got the better of the series.

The more rounds, the more chance I give Langford to wear down Gene. Over say 10 rounds I can see Tunney having a good chance of evading Langfords power but make it 15 and I see Sam knocking Tunney out.
What´s the difference between African American fighters and white American fighters that a guy who didn´t fight an African American fighter can´t beat one? I don´t get the logic here.
Depends entirely on the number of rounds. Tunney always out-boxes Langford for the best part of a 12 to 15 round fight for me, with Langford getting in some good digs that eventually take their toll if this goes further than 15.
Come on ...your too good for this statement ... you're more wide open than Dempsey was for Tunney's jab ...
