He didn't really have a lot of options. Not a good opponent, but he signed to fight Povetkin and Povetkin tested positive for an illegal substance. Not Wilder's fault.

I hear you but did you really answer my question..? I was actually favouring Wilder over Povetkin in a war and I was extremely disappointed this fight could not get made... Damn shame for fight fans and damn shame for Wilder and his career IMO..

Wilder is a disgrace but the wbc isn't much better. Wilder has set a precedent that walking away from a mandatory on spurious/unproven grounds three weeks out is okay in their organisation. Smells of corruption to me.
While I agree it's not a good look, there is certainly a difference between Marijuana and what Povetkin used.
