To be honest, Bruno deserved it. He was one of the dirtiest HWs ever. I've recently watched his fight with usually durable Jesse Ferguson whom Bruno stopped in 1st. Bruno broke all the rules that night and should've been DQ'd in one instead of TKO1 win. He hit Ferguson numerous times behind the head, and hit him while holding (in Lennox' style), and even was holding and hitting behind the head at the same time. Also his wins over Mike Evans and Coetzer weren't exactly clean too.
Well, fouling is spoken of as merely part of the boxing game and the foulers are described as excusable because they aren't saints. So what is a reader supposed to infer from that? BTW Being a saint isn't necessary to abide by the rules. So the premise is flawed. Does Ward have to be a saint to refrain from leading with his head and to refrain from blatantly throwing elbows and low blows? If his antics were part of the game then fans would not be in an uproar over his tactics.
I agree. I think Bruno's trainers at some point gave up trying to develop him into a skilled boxer and just told him to fight dirty.
Never said that they should be mutilated. You are taking things to the ridiculous extreme. Reductio ad Absurdum https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reductio_ad_absurdum Only said that they should be made to abide by the rules and that they themselves should try to abide by the rules instead of seeking to win via unfair tactics. If it isn't allow in the MMA why should it be allowed in boxing?
I never said any of the crud you implied i did either. Maybe you are too sensitive to be following boxing. Rightly or wrongly it's not a perfect world and it's sure never going to be.
Depends on the egregiousness, imo. I'd be fine with an automatic point deduction and recovery time for the downed fighter though.
With Ward it's ugly because he bases his whole fight plan on fouling, the man is a disgrace to boxing IMO.
Foreman should've fought Oscar Bonavena or Jerry Quarry instead. He wouldn't have gotten away with that with them, especially Oscar.
Yeah, that might be it. A Marciano, Tyson, Holyfield,Lewis etc. might throw a few fouls in amongst the legit punches. For Ward, a legit punch is an afterthought.
