x2 And the extraordinary thing is Ali had broadcasted live his intentions to test Foreman's stamina to the whole televised world after George had knocked out Norton. You have to wonder what Archie Moore was thinking in Foreman's corner. These things should be completely mastered by seasoned trainers/former world class fighters like himself.
He was overrated as a boxer, as in the pure technical side of it, he beat better boxers than himself. He had zero inside game, never went to the body ever, pulled back from shots instead of slipping or parrying. Doesn't mean he wasn't a great fighter.
You and that poster are two sides of the same coin, you represent the two ridiculous polar opposites of this forum.
No, neither fighter was better than their victims at that point. The superior fighter beat themselves with poor strategy. Brewster had no plan. He was a punching bag getting his ass kicked. Ali might have hoped that would happen, but the fight was so far out of his control that he couldn't force Foreman to do anything Foreman didn't want to do. Ali was just really tough and got lucky. Hoping that your opponent does something stupid is not a skill.
no, brewster and ali won by legit duping the other guy. That IS SUPERIOR SKILL. Wlad doesnt get a free pass because you are a fan of his. You cant dump on one not the other just because they have different skin melanoma.
Almost 4 Years of His absolute Prime out of the Sport.....and look what he achieved in an era which we may never see the likes of again...won back his World Title at aged 32 against possibly one of the most Dangerous and Brutal Heavyweight we have ever seen a Prime 24 Year old George Foreman......Over Rated....I think not.!!!!
The stupidity of the general forum never ceases to amaze me. Only on ESB can you see a claim that Crawford would beat Leonard and Hearns, and that Ali-Foreman was fixed all in one day.
I think Foreman could of been drugged, but not sure. I think the saddest thing was there being no rematch. I am sure if there was a rematch Ali would of certainly lost. Ali got a rematch against Norton and Frazier luckily for him. Foreman was not so lucky even though he was twice as good as both of them.
He would jab to the body pretty often and could slip shots pretty well simply by taking his head off the line. He relied a lot of speed, yeah...But the idea of that he had no technical acumen is what's overrated, imo.
Winning the majority 7 completed rounds and then knocking your opponent out isn't luck. Ali was leading on all three cards at the time of the bout's conclusion; I personally had him winning 5 out of the 7. Ali by and large he was in control of Foreman, and not just at the end of the fight.
This content is protected From 6:20 Mayweather explains why. He was a huge character for sure, a hell of a fighter as well, but he is not in the 10 best boxers of all time.
I asked YOU why he is overrated, not floyd f'n mayweather. Besides, that's simply the opinion of an insecure egomaniac
