Groves wins....but ain't a patch on DeGale's display. Could see Smith really making him look messy with his WWE tactics.
Ive never rated Smith and think Groves would beat Smith, but not in the same fashion of DeGale. DeGale was faultless against Smith. I think Groves would outbox Smith also. Smith cant fight at range and has to hold and then try and punch. I think Anderson would beat Smith also
George groves is quickly becoming one of the most over rated boxers in british boxing, if it wasnt for james degale nobody would know who he is. This would be a close fight, could see it going either way
DeGale is rapidly becoming the most overrated prospect on the back of beating a man everyone knew he was going to beat.
Probs groves but who cares i wanna see groves-degale next there is no one domestically left for either and after sat not sure groves and booth will be as keen for the fight as previous
I suppose it's out of order to suggest that Smith and DeGale are both good prospects then? One absolutely must pick a side and declare the other one overrated?
It's the other way around. Almost everyone has practically written him off after the Anderson fight...
it wasn't THAT impressive. He slowly outboxed Smith then got a stoppage. He never seriously hurt the guy and he still slaps with his punches. Add in the fouling and it was a good performance over a totally mediocre opponent. But nothing special. Just a good.
I know, as if Anderson's some sort of bum! Anderson's a good prospect himself and would give DeGale a lot more problems that Smith did.
I wasn't sold on Groves for a wee while. Not sold on him from his trunks to his receding hair line to his **** style that will get exposed by Chunky!!!
Easy fight for Groves, Smith hasn't got anything to trouble Groves with as I argued with avid long ago. Groves problems are going to come under pressure, but Smith isn't capable of exposing those flaws. Smith isn't a work-rate fighter, I don't believe he's even capable of the intensity and style Anderson brought. Groves is also weak defensively in close but Smith does not work on the inside, he holds and waits for the ref to break which only helps Groves reset. Groves would just splatter him from the outside all night long and probably stop him late in a similar fashion. Maybe earlier than DeGale infact.
his style is too similar to haye, anderson was his first real test and I personally (a lot of other people also) believe that anderson would have won that with real training for the fight. I Don't believe degales victory is getting over rated because it was a punch perfect win over a legit british champion and I think hes a level above groves.
