After Marvin weathers the early G-Man storm,he outboxes, outpunches then stops Gerald in the later rounds.

I don't get all the hype that surrounds McCellean. Some make it sounds as if he was some boogie man or indestructible force.
Hagler actually fought and beat better punchers and better fighters .
McCelleans size "advantages " and " monterous power " didn't help him against Nigel Benn.
Who had been stopped prior by fighters not seen as great punchers in Eubanks and Watson.
McClellan also lost to a couple of journey men early in his career. His best victories were against a SHELL of John Mugabi, not close to the warrior that gave Hagler hell a full seven years earlier, and a past it, and always chinny J.Jackson. Those two victories proved only one thing, his management's selectivity.
But now he beats Marvin Hagler?
McClellan was nothing more than a better managed WIlliam " Caveman " Lee.
And Against Marvin Hagler he'd get what the "Caveman " got,,,,,, That's caved in.
    Stop the madness.....

I think that is the hang up, if McClellan fought in that era he would not fight at 160 he would have been 175 he was a larger man who could not stay at 160 after the weigh in or go into the ring dehydrated and weakened

Hagler would probaby come in about 168lbs. Hagler would disect and stop G-man. People underestimate how affective hagler was at switch hitting. Just like Crawford sets up his apponents, Hagler would switch midstream and nail you with those heavy hands and once he has you hurt its all over, Plus, he loves fighting tall guys, he loves to chop them down like a tree.

While I do agree that MCClellan has a significant size advantage and that he was also a rough and tough customer ... I think Hagler cleans him up in the second half of the fight. McClellan was simply nowhere near as good a boxer as Hagler. Hagler had the defensive ability and the offensive versatility to find the holes in GM's somewhat predictible fight plan and to make him pay for those deficiencies. Frankly I can see MMH slipping those chopping overhands all night long.

Marvin had some of the most dangerous H2H fighters I've ever seen. Footwork, pressure, jab, durable, heavy handed and great stamina. He'd eat McClellan alive
