McClellan was outboxed a few times early in his career by non elite fighters when he was extended the distance, McClellan also never won a fight above Middleweight.

So logic tells me Calzaghe wins this.

I feel Calzaghe would weather the eary storm and win on points.
    He was capable of that.

I'm not surprised at all - more aggressive fighters always get a huge boost from the rose tinted nostalgia specs by comparison with more skilled but less damaging fighters.

I think Zags would've frustrated gman early and then ramped up the humiliation as the rounds wore on, resulting in a wiiide UD - I won't go as far as to call it a mismatch, but I'd be confident enough to back Zags to win it far more often than not.

Joe takes it. Great chin, great speed and reflexes.

Did I already say Joe takes it? If I didn't I'll say it now.

I believe Calzaghe was a better fighter than G-man but Benn didn`t knock Gman out, he had a bleed on the brain so quit on one knee before collapsing and being taken to hospital, had nothing to do with his chin which withstanded Jackson`s best shots while Calzaghe was floored by Byron Mitchell and B-hop.

Better than Roy?! That’s high praise for Joe. I can see Calzaghe and Ward in a very close fight, with Joe winning a split decision (or losing via SD), but it’s hard to see anybody beating Roy at 168.

ROID was juiced to the eyeballs, hence he doesn't count.

Calzaghe was a better boxer and much high pace than McClellan. His best fight he won was probably against Julian Jackson. A lot of power thrown but Joe could have outboxed him over 12.

Calzaghe, clear decision or late stoppage. McClellan is 0-1 at super middleweight and Calzaghe was 46-0, let me guess.

Calzaghe by wide decision. Too dynamic and busy. I always thought McClellan was overrated anyway.

GM isnt a SMW & as dangerous as he was for that short period I saw him struggle with some horrendous Fighters, so I'd have to favour Calzaghe here.. McClellan is most known for his fights with Julian Jackson but Jackson by that time had had a very long career and was pretty one dimensional anyway.. we didnt see that much of McClellan really.. apart from the Jackson fights and the tragic one with Benn .. who knows how good he'd have become

Joe was far too good for Lacy, so would definitely be to good for GM.

Joe performs best when there is a genuine fear of an opponent

He would outbox/work him to a unanimous decision
