No that's your assumption, the offer could be for 2019 with a bunch of bs attached to it.
It could be anything, so in fact we don't know if accepting the offer brings the fight closer.

Perhaps telling OLDH to **** off and waiting for a new offer brings the fight closer.

You mean like when Armstrong was WW champion and fought for the LW title?

Or Napoles was WW champion and fought for the MW title?

Or any of the other multitude of examples throughout history that exist?

    Two possibilities

    1: accept the offer
    2: don't accept the offer

I'm fairly confident as t which one brings the fight closer.

Yes, EXACTLY like how it was decades ago, but you know, more current with the rules that now prevent that. LOL

There's a third.... Fight Jacobs and reconvene after. You're s close minded stubborn bugger aren't ya? You can't even fathom the idea of simply waiting until after the Jacobs fight.

He moved up to challenge for Cotto's belts. After winning, he was given a time period to decide which he's keeping, the WW or JrMW titles. Floyd gave up his WBA belt, went back to WW.

The mere fact that you ask if he has to give up his belts first before challenging for new ones in the division above says a lot about you. You either don't know how it works, or you do and are just being obtuse and disingenuous. My money is on the latter.

He only gave up the WBC. He didn't give up the Ring belt or his claim of lineal champion.

    You're welcome.

Ring belt isn't real world title you know. It's been awarded to guys who actually HAVE an ABC belt in their division. There is no lineal championship either. You can be the linear champ, but when you give up your belts, you are giving up your claim to any title. That's different from being stripped unfairly, which Canelo was not. He willingly gave up his claim to the MW throne.
