His chin has been tested by Stevens and Rubio. And let's not forget that he got hit before delivering the KO punch to Gaele, which showed how good his chin is.

As for being tested, not man can test him at 160. He'll knock them all out.

Khomitsky and to a lesser extent Ouma (with volume obviously, not power) also tested his chin.

Funny how people invent defensive liabilities for Golovkin that do not exist. James Toney got hit way more at MW than GGG ever has. Iran Barklay hit Toney with many more shots over ten rounds than Ouma did GGG yet Toney is labeled as some defensive genius.

He is good. But no. He has not been tested to the level of his capabilities.

I hope he can unify the belts. If he can do that and dominate the division for years sure he will be an ATG.

To become the legend some make him out to be right now he will have to move up to SMW and maybe even LHW. Have some solid wins vs better caliber fighters and/or have some storytelling developing in dramatic fashion. Like an avenged loss. A fight of the year slugfest. Or a trilogy in which he gets the better.

A guy like Gatti IMO has left a bigger impact on the sport.

he is levels above the next best true middleweight so any test they give him he will pass with flying colors.

So you think GGG should be more like Gatti?

Lose every big fight he was ever in.

Go life and death with sub par opposition.

    Have substance abuse issues.

Run through like 3-4 wives until one finally kills you in a hotel room.

Perhaps GGG can make an impact like that eventually.:patsch

    EDIT:

I honestly did not intend to bash Gatti and seriously considered deleting that stuff but when confronted with a thread full of dumb one eventually reaches their breaking point.

People say GGG was not tested. Yet he just beat a former champ by a spectacular KO in 3rd round, terrified a man that took the best shots Lemieux had to offer to a point that he blatantly gave up, knocked out a man that has never been knocked out before and destroyed a guy that moved on and became a HEAVYWEIGHT.

Sure he seems untested. That is because the "tests" are much too easy for him, he is too strong for the opposition.

He needs to keep doing what he is doing, and he will be alright. Haters gonna hate, but GGG is racking up every name that is available/willing to face him. Hopefully, Cotto is next so we can have 2 of the belts held by a true champ, and then go after the other so called champions.

Dude GGG himself said that Canelo is the toughest fighters he's ever shared a ring with pros, ams, or sparring. And every account has said both gave as good as they got an this was a 19 year old Alvarez. Your doing a bit much with the hero thing both are good fighters but Canelo has earned my respect by taking fights like this that he's supossed to lose an winning. Nobody GGG has faught has ever even held a title not even a regional title but Geale he has to start fight A quailty guys before I'll label him A quality.

For your final point Canelo has said he has no problem moving up to fight GGG (while GGG can't) the fact that people don't seem to understand is Canelo-Cotto isn't a duck both are better more accomplished fighters therefore a win there is currently worth more than a win over GGG. Cotto depending on what he does next could duck but Canelo isn't even officially a MW.

Well if you ask like the thread title say: Has GGG been tested?

GGG has not been tested like Gatti. Gatti did fight Mayweather, Oscar De La Hoya, moved up trough weight classes. Those were the biggest tests out there. And he lost sure. But he stepped up to the plate and took the test.

GGG has done none like that. He has more potential then lets say Gatti for sure. But he did not fight guys like Ward, Froch, Kovalev yet. JCC jr would be a step up in competition for him at this point as well. Would he beat these guys? Maybe/probably. But until he does its an empty promise and there fore he is untested. Who has he fought that is of much higher caliber then a guy like lets say Micky Ward?

And bottom line is Gatti has left his legacy, he is Hall of fame. If GGG retires right now will he be Hall of fame? No.

The mother****er hits hard and is fighting journey men?? GGG is a slow power boxer with efficient movement, Canelo is a slow aggressive counter puncher with good hand speed. Vs each other I'd favor Canelo in a close decision, more experience better defense,& faster.

I mean people give Canelo **** for competitive fights but GGG hasn't even fought anyone as good as ****ing Rhodes if he beat Canelo I'd give him much credit or anyone with a pulse really but he hasn't. Y'all say everybody is ducking him for not moving to 160 to fight him and he's scared to move up himself .

i think GGG has survived a few decent shots and could care less, not bin truly tested yet but i've no doubt when the time comes he will pass with flying colours. GGG is no joke

Stopped taking you seriously there. And for the second quote, don't say ya'll as if you're including me in that discussion. Don't just throw out some blanket statement like that without even knowing what I have and more importantly haven't said. The fact that you can't distinguish the two fighters for what they really are, leaves nothing to be further discussed. Go study up.
