Their priority has always been Canelo, so why fight in June and risk injury, having back to back training camps, not allowing time to recover, putting doubt in sponsors, busy with world tour, press conferences, HBO face off, and other interviews... Priority should always the to be active and grab the last belt. Why should Golovkin wait for a fight which won't happen anyway. If Canelo beat's Chavez Jr, Oscar might have a new Idea and might say to Golovkin maybe in may 2018 or @164 pounds. What if Chavez Jr knocks out Canelo ? If Golovkin fights Saunders in July 2017 he might be ready again to fight Canelo or Chavez in September.

Come one an Alvarez fight isn't really legacy defining for Golovkin. 3 month later all the haters will rate is as a mismatch because Canelo was just to small.
