Sure, but agreeing to 168 with Chavez means that during the actual fight, Golovkin would still be around 158-160, and Jr would be around 195.

Plus, everyone knows the kinds of things that happen in Jr's fights. Why should Golovkin take a chance? Like others have said, there are plenty of other high-dollar fights.

I'm not even sure Jr is such a big draw any longer. Are Mexican fans really that delusional?

I'm also calling BS on this thread- Chavez took the Vera fight at 168, and is planning to return to 160 afterward to rematch Martinez because he wants his title back, according to E$PN.

:patsch Chavez can't box man. He's not even much of a puncher for his size, 2 kos in past 8 fights, both against pushovers. GGG can box, he outpointed Dirrell over 3 rounds with headgear.

Kinda with you here. Jr ain't got a belt at 160 and hasn't even been in against any SMW. He would pull in a reasonable audience still, but not enough for HBO to take a chance on their investment. If Jr can re-establish himself at MW or SMW, there could be a money fight down the line, but for now, what does he bring?

Yeah, I said it, there would be risk involved, just like in any fight - 'cept in this case GGG could be giving up 25lbs+ on the night. He could and I'm sure would beat the snot outta Jr, but ask Maravilla how easy it is to pick up an injury when you're fighting a guy who's that much bigger.

why would GG fight Jr at 168, when he hasn't even faced a top 3 guy at 160 yet?

Because it's easily the biggest profile fight available to him. I'd be really disappointed if he passed on that, fortunately it's not a problem given this is a windup thread.

Jr can't make the MW category anymore and its understandable why. I'd lie to say that I don't want to see this fight happening. Maybe they will find a way to make this fight to happen ( a catchweight @ 165 pounds ? ) cuz it would be all good action.

3G said that he will fight any top fighter from 154 to 168 but I'm pretty sure that he was referring about the legit 168 pounders like Ward and Froch. He would move up at 168 for a fight with one of these guys. Also Jr could fight Rodriguez at 168 for start. That fight would be interesting too.:yep

me too, especially considering that he'd rearrange Jr's face so badly that Senior wouldn't recognise him after the fight
