the fight will not happen anytime soon, Chavez is facing Vera next, that is, if he doesn't back out again because he doesn't have the discipline to train properly

Chavez Jr. said to The Record “It could also be at middleweight [in facing Golovkin], but it would be better in between or at 168 because I struggle with the weight and I’m stronger when I go up. I think I can knock him out.”

sounds legit to me ! 3G should really take in consideration this fight. Jr has a high profile and he's el vaca del dinero ! Jr vs 3G @ 165 lbs catchewight would be awesome.

I admit my Spanish is rubbish, but I can't see where in the original Record article it says an offer has been made or rejected

    record.com.mx/article/chavez-jr-quiere-enfrentar-golovkin (C'n'P it)

Are we sure this isn't just Chavez doing a bit of self promotion in a Mexican sports tabloid. After all what's he supposed to say?

He even makes it sound reasonable that despite being the one who is coming off the loss and having no trinkets a MW champ should come to his weight. Jrs got far more to gain than GGG from this fight, surely he should be the one doing the chasing.

Nonetheless I don't think Arum wants this at any weight, whatever Jr says, cos another loss would be seriously bad for Jrs career. There ain't much chance of HBO risking their investment by putting GGG in at 168 either (or even a catch weight) bearing in mind that Jr would be fighting probably above 190lbs. Most likely Gena wins anyway, but too big a chance of getting hurt.

If Jr (Arum) offers 160, HBO snap it up I think. If he wants to do it heavier, he'll have to make it worth the risk by re-establishing himself as a force a 160 or maybe picking up a belt at 168. Jr brings in decent money but ain't gonna be the draw that he was, and Golos worth far more to HBO as a long term investment than anything Jr brings.

  10. GGG eats everyone for breakfast. Especially this joke Chavez Jr. who went 12 rounds with Sebastian Zbik to win through robbery.

Reports suggested Golovkin handled Chavez Jr. very easily when they sparred at Wildcard. I highly doubt Golovkin's team has turned down a respectable offer.

This thread is a joke. Chavez is fighting Vera on sept 7th. GGG has said many times he wants to fight 2 more times this year. So obviously his next opponent won't be chavez. Maybe next year, chavez has to win on sept 7th first.
