Unfortunately for Ward, fans feel the same way about watching his fights.

I've spoken to enough pro boxers and trainers and commentators to know they're just as full of it as anyone else. To be sure, some of them have opinions I respect far more than others, and some of them I find myself agreeing with much more often than not.

GGG is definitely above average in every area, with his power and ring IQ by far being his biggest assets. His skills are excellent, but definitely tend to be grossly overrated here on this message board. And his footwork is very good, and has proven quite effective against the limited lot he's gone up against to date. But he isn't exactly Pernell Whitaker, either.

I can honestly say he is one of the best middleweights I have seen in the last
40 yrs and that covers some very good fighters in that time period. What is scary ,
he hasn't even had to show his complete offensive ar-senal yet.

Ward has issues. He is a very bitter man with delusions of grandeur.

How can you say his skills are excellent but then claim he is grossly overrated on here? How far north of excellent can you possibly get? Same with very good footwork compliment. You then enter into specious resoning, assuming it only works against whom you deem limited. You then drop the coup de gras by mentioning Whitaker for whatever reason even though their approach to footwork is nothing alike.

Only two Golovkin colloquialisms, I'm disappointed. Surely you could have worked in a GG or a Gaynaddy to furthur emphasize your point.

Better yet, take the Rumsfeld route and praise his power then claim is was nothing compared to McClellan's.

Lemieux has a puncher's chance. The Ward bum has no chances to survive 12 rounds against Gennady.

Say what you will about Golovkin but he's no Robert Allen.

Why are people bringing up Ward in a thread about Golovkin's footwork? Move on already, jeez.

Yes, his footwork is probably top five in boxing. The way he traps his opponents is probably the most interesting aspect of his "game". He's just so relentless but at the same time meticulous in that approach, I love watching his opponents try to escape left or right or wherever and Golovkin simply denying them the chance to do so.
