GGG was 40-41 when he moved up to 168, so Toney. Prime GGG wins by a close decision after a technical war.
Golovkin is 0-1 above Middleweight where as Super Middleweight is considered one of Toney's best weightclasses. A no brainer Toney by UD.
Check out this 30 pages of madness: https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/ggg-vs-james-toney-at-160.655356/ https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/james-toney-vs-gennady-golovkin-160.625623/ https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/james-toney-vs-gennady-golovkin-at-mw-who-you-got.580580/ Best for best, I think Toney would edge out GGG with some absolutely spectacular moments punctuating a very close fight. But. It's unfair in a sense. Because GGG would win that trilogy. Toney was struggling with weight, life, inconsistent and strange in a couple of fights. GGG would be all over those weaknesses. GGG is a better middleweight that Toney even though I'd pick Toney to get it done if it was somehow for all the marbles.
This probably. I'm a certified GGG fan, but going up against a young Toney at 40 years old is a huge ask.
While I do believe GGG edged Canelo twice, Toney is a lot better than Canelo. I do not see GGG having a chance here. At the end of the day, Toney is too skilled.
