    RD3: Canelo - 29-28
    RD4: Golovkin - 38-38
    RD5: Golovkin* - 47-48
    RD6: Canelo - 57-57
    RD7: Canelo* - 67-66
    RD8: Canelo - 77-75
    RD9: Golovkin* - 86-85
    RD10: Golovkin - 96-96
    RD11: Golovkin - 104-105
    RD12: Canelo* - 114-114

    * denotes close round.

I originally had Golovkin as clear winner of RD12, but looking back i missed a lot of Canelo's work. i could watch that round a few times and give it to either of them every time, so should be even, but i hate even rounds.

I will definitely read it when I get the chance! Looking forward to it. I don't recognize your name(I'm bad with names unless you're a consistent regular) but I recognize your imgur articles. Always enjoyed them.

Fair enough! I thought it was a round that could go either way. The way I saw it is GGG outlanded Canelo but Canelo landed more power shots. Those power shots were grazing and not clean though. To me the jab that popped Canelo's head back at the end was the best shot of the round. We'll go through it tonight.

I don't really understand what you mean. The other 2 scoring criteria? What are you the other 2 scoring criteria. If I had a gun to my head I give 12 to GGG and 5 tp Canelo. I don't think it's fair to give 12 to GGG without changing 5 for Canelo. 5 GGG lands more but Canelo lands a massive right hand. 12 Canelo lands more but GGG lands a massive uppercut. I'm trying to be as consistent as possible.

I haven't watched the fight yet..was out of town over the weekend. From what I've read, very close fight that could have went either way. I make it a habit not to comment on scores on fights I haven't seen. But from the sounds of it, both guys had their moments and both guys showed alot of heart and granite chins. I'm looking forward to watching it.

You gotta make up your mind about those rounds. Zero in on it. It's the only way.

@ellerbe I rewatched the fight for a 3rd time and after scoring it this time I had a chance to look at how you had it. The first thing I'll say is that I had a relatively easy time scoring the first 7 rounds but I had a more difficult time scoring the last 5 rounds.

I agreed with how the official judges had the first 6 rounds. While all of these rounds were very competitive and relatively close, I thought it was pretty clear to me that GGG won the 1st and 4th rounds and Canelo won rounds 2,3,5&6. I see ellerbe that you scored the 5th round even which I'll have to take another look at, but aside from that we agree on the first half of the fight. I also agree with your scoring of round 7 as a hard round to score but one that I thought Canelo won.

So at this point after 7 rounds, I have Canelo up 5 rounds to 2, 68-65, which is identical to Feldman and Weisfeld's cards. And you had it 68-66 which is identical except for your even 10-10 round 5.

Then we get to rounds 8 and 9 which I see as pretty much toss up rounds that can be scored either way or even. I split them by giving GGG the 8th and Canelo the 9th just like you did. So it seems that we agree on almost every round through 9 rounds and I didn't look at your scorecard before I scored the bout.

Round 10 is an interesting round looking back on it in that Canelo actually had a good first minute of the round but then GGG came on with some big moments. With Canelo slightly ahead early in the round, GGG started to get to work with 2:05 on the clock with a nice right hand. Canelo comes back with a nice right hand himself with 1:53 on the clock. GGG with a beautiful one-two combo with 1:41 left in the round, then GGG follows up with another one-two as Canelo tried to duck it. This was a momentum shifting moment here and GGG really deserves credit for what he did in this round. This turned into just a back and forth war of a round. The crowd was really into it in this round. Canelo definitely bounced back from that moment and landed some good right hands especially that one with 1:09 left in the round (then he started walking GGG down) but down the stretch I think it was clear to everyone watching that GGG did enough to win this round. What I will say is that GGG definitely was hurt by some of what Canelo landed in this round if you look at GGG with about 1 minute left in the round he's starting to breathe hard and his face started to redden up. But GGG continued to apply resistance while fighting off the back foot and it was impressive. Canelo landed a solid hard jab with 49 seconds left in the round and Canelo managed to land another nice jab with 39 seconds left. Gennady then uses the jab to set up a nice right hand to the body with 36 seconds left. Canelo sets up a nice short right hook with 32 seconds left. There was a nice jab by GGG with 23 seconds left and a decent right hand by GGG with 11 seconds left. GGG ended the round well with a very strong final 10 seocnds with a series of jabs that got in that surely solidified the round for GGG. It was definitely a GGG round but Canelo had his moments in the 10th as well. It was just an awesome back and forth round to watch start to finish and both fighters deserved credit for putting on such a war of a round but GGG did clearly win it, mainly with the momentum shifts, landing the big punches and how he finished the round strong.

Round 11 I thought this was a pretty close but clear round for Canelo. All 3 judges gave this round to GGG though. I'm not sure what they saw as I thought Canelo avoided the kind of big shots that swung the 10th in GGG's favor but continued his work rate and walking down of GGG and landed the better shots. Compubox actually had both fighters landing 18 punches in the 11th round but with Canelo landing at a significantly higher percentage (40% to 24%) and landing two more power punches. So I am very confident about giving this round to Canelo, though it was close. ellerbe you stated that Canelo got in some very clean power shots and you're right. You recognized this but still gave the round to GGG. I think this is a key round because this round is the difference between it being a draw and Canelo winning on your card ellerbe. Aside from your even rounds 5 and 12, this is the only round in the entire fight that we truly scored differently, but your comments about the 11th being closer than you thought indicates that you may be open to re-evaluating this round as a possible Canelo round.

Round 12 is another difficult to score round as I gave this round to GGG, though watching it again it really could have gone to Canelo and I definitely see why you scored it even as I think that's very reasonable. What convinced me to score the round for GGG is that there were some exchanges that GGG seemed to showcase some of his boxing skills and his timing, something that we didn't see from GGG in the other rounds. But I think Canelo (similarly to the 10th) seemed to outwork GGG but GGG seemed to land the best single shots of the round and GGG managed to punctuate some of the exchanges impressively so I decided to give it to GGG.

Oddly the 12th almost reminded me of the opposite of the middle rounds of the first fight where Canelo fighting off the back foot landed the more impressive single shots and showcased his boxing skills and timing catching Canelo coming in, while GGG was outworking Canelo. I thought Canelo may have outworked GGG in the 12th but GGG had the most impressive moments, so I think that's a round that could be argued either way. It's certainly not a clear GGG that you can't score to Canelo like many including Al Bernstein have argued.

After watching it 3 times, to me the swing rounds in the bout appear to be the 8thand the 9th which I bet a lot of GGG fans gave to GGG. I think those rounds were close enough that neither guy should have won both of those rounds so I feel comfortable splitting those two toss up rounds. Similarly I am comfortable spltting the 11th and the 12th since the 12th was so difficult to score and the 11th while I was pretty confident in Canelo winning was admittedly pretty close.

If there's any round that needs further examination where we disagree it's probably the 11th. I also think there's a good debate about who deserved to win rounds 8 and 9 which I think you would agree are very debatable. Besides that I thought Canelo clearly built an significant lead over the first 7 rounds, aside from the 1st and the 4th Canelo was outworking GGG and landing the better shots, and starting in the 8th GGG really started to come on and made each of the last 5 rounds pretty tough to score.

So while I considered scoring some rounds 10-10, I decided not to score any rounds even and have decided on the following card :

    Canelo GGG

    1: 9 10
    2: 10 9
    3: 10 9
    4: 9 10
    5: 10 9
    6: 10 9
    7: 10 9
    8: 9 10
    9: 10 9
    10: 9 10
    11: 10 9
    12: 9 10

I have to agree on round 11. It was confusing to me how everyone thought it was a clear GGG round. Anyways, I'm not really going to re-evaluate rounds since I'm okay with a Canelo win this time around. Last time I thought GGG was outright robbed, this time I think a Canelo win is acceptable. You were definitely fair with your scoring since 1 and 12 were both possible Canelo rounds too.
