Sorry guys but even though Rubio is rated, he's not that good. He poses no threat to Go locking and will lose by KO/TKO
Rubio is a solid top 10 guy who has fought a lot at the world level, can crack, is not at all fragile and has good skills. If you cant get the big names in the ring, fighting top10 guys like Geale and Rubio is what you should be doing. I think GGG wins, but Rubio is not about to lay down for anyone. Its a solid regular HBO fight, Rubio is a credible opponent. Fight will be at Forum or Stubhub most likely. Fighting a tough Mexican for a Latino crowd in CA is going to do great things for GGG popularity. Smart move by K2
A lot of them read his stats on Boxrec and assume he'll be a walk in the park, he hasn't been truly KO'd since 2004 and the Jantuah KO was the epitome of a perfect lucky shot, and Roman was on a KO streak and unbeaten at the time, but Rubio ended that in the rematch. Rubio is by far his toughest test, if Stevens could take his shots Rubio will for longer, and nothing says Rubio couldn't possibly get an upset KO, he does have 51 after all. That being said GGG will probably win, and be taken the distance for the first time in a while.
Rbio got the sh!t beat out of him by Chavez Jr. Stop playing him up like he is better than Macklin or Geale or Stevens cause he ain't.
Chavez didn't beat the **** out of Rubio they went toe to toe the whole fight nothing Chavez threw affected Rubio, nothing Rubio threw affected Chavez. It was a close fight.
Surely GGG is only fighting Rubio to do Cotto a favour. Cotto could get stripped as Rubio is mandatory. Then Cotto might fight GGG next summer.
this fight is not happening rubio is kneegul cotto's mandatory why take the risk against ggg when cotto's the much easier fight for him.rubio can extort cotto for some step aside money and keep fighting bums until he gets his chance at the wbc belt.
on paper it looks like a tough test but I think it would be easy for ggg Rubio is too slow ggg is too much skill and power for him.add in the fact that ggg has a pretty good chin as he showed against stevens and I see no way rubio could beat ggg.
We know that A) Rubio has a decent chin and a respectable straight right (see JCC Jr fight) and that B) he can weather an offensive storm if his opponent's punch selection is not optimal (see Lemieux fight). I'm interested in durability here, and think it's going to take a perfectly timed left hook to the liver to put him down. Otherwise UD12 for Golovkin.
