True... but when someone has better wins, losses not as bad, AND performed better against their shared wins, maybe the guys just... better?

Not to mention, Monroe is a defensive minded boxer, and despite Lemieux offering more resistance, and having an offensive minded approach against Golovkin, as opposed to trying to survive like Monroe, he lasted two rounds longer than Monroe did against Golovkin.

There's probably a reason why you're the only person who has mentioned Monroe in this thread... likely answer is, he's just not as good as Lemieux.

But I digress... I'll shut up now.

    Jacobs
    Derevyanchenko
    Murata
    Lemieux
    Brook

Weak as hell top 5 wins for someone being talked about as ATG. Even if you put Canelo 1 in there, it’s still not great.

The truth. GGG has been fortunate to have made big $ and become a superstar but a few hurdles early on in his career with promoters etc and being avoided probably seriously effects his ATG status.

I get your point and GGG could beat that version of Charlo that showed up vs Montiel. But if the fight were made, we'd most likely get a much more motivated Charlo (think of his performance vs Derevyanchenko for example). I seriously doubt that GGG can beat a peak/near-peak Charlo at the ripe old age of 40/41.

    you would think
But I wouldn’t put money on it.

Sure GGG didn’t look good against Canelo but that was at 168lbs & it was against a very active Canelo who is levels above Charlo.

I get that charlo is younger & normally that should be the edge to Charlo ,
I just cant give it to him ,
Charlo is too inconsistent until he proves otherwise.
He can turn that around in his next fight.
But your only as good as your last fight.

Golovkin's career is a story of name fighters ducking him and then anti-GGG boxing fans discrediting him for not having name fighters.
Here are the top five ducks of GGG instead.

    1. Saunders. Ducked the unification in an interview right after winning the belt against Lee. Asked fans to allow him to age Golovkin a bit, slow him down, before he had to fight him. You can't get a more obvious duck than one the fighter actually acknowledges.

    2. Cotto. Ducked the unification and fought (and drained to 157) Geale instead, who Golovkin had recently KO'd. Absolutely shameless.

    3. Canelo. Ducked him to fight Khan and then again and again to age him.

    4. Eubank Jr. Literally had the fight/stadium set up but pulled out of contract so that Brook stepped in and everyone pretended Golovkin chose Brook from the beginning.

    5. Sturm. Ducked him in Germany.

Old name fighter 'call out' ducks that aren't as serious but still show the mentality.
    1. Froch. Taunted Golovkin about being too big too strong, wouldn't take fight.
    2. Mayweather. Said Golovkin was easy work, wouldn't take fight.
    4. Golden Boy said he'd come back and fight Golovkin but changed his mind.

The fact that there are so many "top 5" names shows that his resume is well solid. Officially his resume lacks the "star fight" if we exclude Canelo 1 and 2 which in my opinion he won handily. Nevertheless the resume is stuffed chock full of champions or people who ran champions down to the wire. People forget that Rubio actually beat Lemieux. That Proksa was a very highly regarded prospect at the time GGG ended his career. Or that a dude like Stevens was a dangerous puncher that nobody took lightly at the time. Macklin was likewise expected to be a stiff test and we saw what happened.

That very solidity of resume shows to me that Golovkin is the real deal.

He also should have a win over Arthur Abraham and lost on points to George Groves in Super middleweight title fights. The only one to stop Murray and destroy him is GGG. He is just trying to disrespect GGG with this talk of Monroe being his best win, easy to read. A 40 year old Golovkin is Canelo's best win.

It never happened. People don't give Hagler credit for a win over Leonard, c'mon now.

GGG is like an old steak cooked right. He's well done. I wanna see him take on Benavidez, or Charlo at 168. Good chance he gets KO'd on the way out since he doesn't know when it's time to go, and I'm not the type to usually call on fighters to retire, but he's done. ****, even make a Plant fight.
