British boxer Gilbert Eastman has come out of the coma he fell into following his bout in London's York Hall on Friday night.

Eastman was stopped in the last second of his eight-round contest with Sam Webb and after feinting in his dressing room was rushed to London Royal Hospital where a blood clot on his brain was removed.

The Guyana-born boxer's wife Patrice confirmed to setantasports.com's Spencer Fearon that her husband is on the mend late on Sunday.

"At around 6 o'clock he woke up," Fearon said. "He can now move all of his limbs.

"He can speak a little bit but they've told him not to speak because they don't want him to over exert himself at present.

"They expect him to make a full recovery."

Eastman, who was fighting on the undercard of Ian Napa's European title fight with Carmelo Ballone, accumulated a record of 20-7 (13 KOs) in the ring and held the Southern Area light middleweight title from 2003-2006.
