The latest is he is training in Copenhagen. The fight will likely be against the mandatory challenger, this Perdomo fella. Kessler claims this is the last option Palle has on him, Palle claims otherwise. There is no new news in that regard.
Not yet, but I would think it would be fairly soon after its confirmed if he's started training. Seems they forgot Kessler is actually a boxer and his job is to get in the ring.
I don't get all this Kessler man love on here...all he has proved to me in a 42 fight career is that he is good enough to outbox Andrade, not good enough to beat Calzaghe, and is able to knock over a seemingly never ending procession of sub-standard Euro-cans
Those cans were top 5 ranked at super middleweight before Kessler fought Calzaghe. The division only just got interesting lately with Bute and Froch then Taylor joining the scene. Before Kessler got caught up in legal wranglings he fought the best super middleweights available to him home and away.
He doesn't get any man love. The majority of people ridicule him for supposedly choosing to fight bums and have no knowledge of the circumstances. If he was so interested in fighting bums he'd be happy to stay with Palle. That is exactly what Palle wants, because they make good money in Denmark without risk. But no, Kessler wants to leave and the reasons are obvious. People also forget that when Kessler was a unified champion, he fought Beyer, Andrade and Mundine ranked in the top 5. He went to Australia and Germany. Then he fought Calzaghe for all the marbles in Wales infront of that crowd. Bute was a baby at the time, and said he was not ready for Kessler. Froch was fighting Brian Magee and Tony Dodson. And Taylor was still a middleweight. This is the reality, Kessler fought the absolute best upto Calzaghe, and then legal wranglings got in the way of everything. Kessler is no wuss, his history of fighting the best in the division away from home proves it. If he is given the opportunity he will prove it once more.
I am fully aware of Kesslers "unfortunate position" and contractual wranglings...his fault for signing the damn thing in the first place. I just don't think that things would be any different with or without Palle
Maybe so...but a fiver says that we will never see it, and it won't have anything to do with Froch not wanting to take him on.
An old Eubank, struggling to make weight, on a losing streak and taking the fight with Calzaghe on short notice was not better than this version of Jermain Taylor. Taylor beat Hopkins twice, slightly more clearly than Calzaghe "beat him" on one occasion. Froch's win over Taylor is better than anything on Calzaghe's record, IMO.
