Take for example the Earnie Shavers overhand right on Larry Holmes, mind you it was a monstrous punch, which would have decked the majority of heavyweights for a good minute or two, much less ten seconds. But Larry Holmes got up from it! If that had been someone else getting knocked spark out, we would hear all about "No man could take that punch". Larry took it, and got up from it. So IRON CHINS also exist in the sport of boxing.
The professor has spoken. GLASS JAWS DO EXIST. His input can completely validate any thread relating to and discussing the strength of said mandibles. I challenge any blinkered fanboy on ESB, here and now, to argue that glass jaws DO NOT EXIST. Put yourself forth for the Professor, Zackman, Super Hans, MVC, Mr Butt to refute your claims. They will convert even the hardest of beleivers Time does not fix glass, ask Pac, ask Wlad, ask Roy, ask Amir, there are too many to mention Once its cracked, im afraid it will never be the same again :deal I feel for Broner; who needs to work on his elusiveness from this point on, maybe even adopt the bob and weave, as the next time his chin gets touched we may see his team get out the sweeping brush instead of the hair brush
You are absolutely correct, iron chins DO exist in boxing, as your example shows. What was particularly interesting about Holmes' beard is that while he could be floored, it was virtually impossible to KEEP him on the canvas. His recuperative ability AFTER getting decked is probably the best I've ever seen in my 35 years of following boxing. The existence of true iron chins like this is, based on my observations, relatively rare. Most fighters' mandibles are NOT immune to punches, and when they hit the deck, it's usually a sign that they have a shaky chin of one degree or another. In fact, it is the general pervasiveness of the glass jaw that makes the iron chin such an impressive quality!:deal
Larry was totally out of it - shavers just needed to land a rangefinder jab and Holmes would have been KTFO. Problem was shaves was gassed and **** and couldn't finish the job.
That glass jaws exist are irrefutable. What I believe the next step in this fact based study is why the fighters in the UK appear to be more susceptible to this malady than any other continent in the world. A complete and thorough study of this ought to be examined and explained.:deal
The US is certainly catching up quickly, however. Adrian Broner is making sure he's doing his part. :deal
Zie study of glass jaws at zie punch resistance laboratories in Lichtenstein has involved many years of vonderfull research but vie have finally confirmed too all denying nincampoops zhat zie glass jaws do exist in zie video below :deal https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4nN51MWM3QA
I became a believer when I saw Frazier vs. Foreman. What a pathetic chin, Frazier's fragile China glass was flying everywhere. He got floored by every right hand Foreman threw. Glass jaws exist in boxing. It's irrefutable.
