Thought I'd make this thread cause I'm totally baffled by how many people think Groves has a chance in this fight. There was a time when I thought Groves had the tools to pose some problems but the more footage I watch on the guy the more I realize unless there's some warrior in there that we've never seen before he's probably going to get blown out in 2-3 rounds.

If you don't agree with me watch the Noel Gonzales fight. Groves get's backed into a corner in the first 8 seconds of the fight and his back hits the ropes twice in the first minute. This keeps happening throughout the first couple of rounds. Gonzales is too much of a plodding C level fighter to do anything about this but imagine that its Carl Froch backing him into that corner or putting him on the ropes.

If you believe Groves has a chance it has to be based on the idea that he has the foot speed to avoid these specific situations. But if a C level fighter from Argentina can put him on the ropes in 8 seconds how in the hell would he avoid that against Froch?

I think Froch will win the fight, but Groves might do better than people think........we will soon find out. I will give my prediction after the fight.........

Groves is no mug, and he's a decent technician, BUT its all about levels and experience and George isn't on Frochs level.
I think Groves will make it interesting, and he will have some early success, but i think he'll start to become discouraged when he realise's he can't stop Froch coming forward.
Froch by TKO in the second half of the fight.

Groves is a quick learner and can adjust in fight. He's got decent hand speed & footwork, throws from arkward angles and can bang hard enough to get Froch's attention. Rewatch his fight he had in America against Sierra. He gets the partisan Mexican crowd on his side after they watch the slow motion replay of his brutal knock out of the Mexican. Its x-rated.

Do I think Groves can beat Froch?....definitely!....will it be tonight.....I doubt it. I think he needed another 12months or 3 more fights to mature. He hasn't got the greatest chin so if Froch catches up with him he'll be in real trouble. Also dumping his trainer over money just before the biggest fight of his life wasn't the smartest idea either. He's nieve not to realise he's got the rest of his career to make money but it will be a shorter one if he ends up getting Bute'd by Froch.

Absolute Bull****. Link me evidence to his poor chin please. Otherwise GTFO.

The way people talk about Groves chin its as if his chin is worse than Khan's when in actual fact Groves has never been KO'd and is a tough guy! he has proven he can take a punch! and he can definitely take a punch from Froch! who clearly doesnt have one punch KO power!

and the way people go on about Froch's punch power is as if he hits harder than Matthysse, GGG, Kovalev and Vitali combined! when in actual fact Froch has only stopped 2 of his last 8 opponents! and one of them was Mack who had already been stopped 4 times before he fought Froch!

Kenny Anderson gets him dancing and from the little I know of Kenny Anderson he's not a top rate operator.

Like I said he's a quick learner and has improved a lot over the past couple of years. So I wouldn't be surprised if he pulls it off.

Froch will win but after the talk groves has come out with he will run if he thinks he will get KOd. A loss on points to him will be better that a KO after all his trash talk

Groves stylistically has the tools, but so did Bute. Froch has far more experience in big fights and there's no way of telling how Groves will respond when Froch nails him for the first time. Interesting fight, I'm eager to see what happens.

So did bute, so dide taylor, so did dirrell. The only one that had the tools and actually made it work was SOG. And he's the only one in that bunch that has an inside game. Unless Groves has some James toney he's been hiding eventually he'll have no place to hide in the ring.

I give Groves a slightly better chance than I give Rios tonight, that's for sure.

I expect a Froch W and a KO at that, but Groves winning by some means or another wouldn't be totally shocking. Froch is, what, 36 years old? It's going to happen eventually. Groves is no cake.

Uhm, look at who those last 8 opponents were. George gives a good fight, but Carl will break him down and get a late stoppage. Froch has proven to be a special fighter.

Wouldnt say no chance he has decent power and a awkward style

People are saying Rios is gonna beat Pac ffs Groves has more chance than him
