nobody ever won any rounds off GGG but I believe Kell Brook will win some rounds for sure.

Brook doesn't move his head or his feet much. as soon as he realizes he can't hurt Triple G and takes a hard shot himself, he'll be a deer in headlights.

It's a terrible fight. Golovkin makes middleweights look like weaklings. A welterweight will seem like a child.

people saying this is like canelo-khan dont know **** about boxing.

kell brook is very big, a lot bigger than people think, and definitely much bigger than khan. brook has a lot of skill and a good chin. golovkin is lighter than canelo on fight night.
do NOT compare this to canelo-khan....

this will probably be the biggest fight of 2016.

But Golovkin is way better than Canelo (hence Canelo ducking him) and if this is at 160 Brook is making an even bigger jump in weight than Khan did.

    Pretty much.

This is a terrible match-up. I understand the appeal to some, and I understand it's a big money grab with a foregone conclusion, but...

    This is pretty bad.

Is it at 160? I assumed so when I heard it was announced.

But if it was like at 152, it might be a more interesting prospect.

    Yes, it's at 160.

However, canelo is heavier than golovkin. Canelo kills himself to make 155 to make it seem he's not a middleweight so he has an excuse not to fight golovkin.
Golovkin on fight night is around 170-175, canelo is 175-180.

    Brook's also bigger than khan.

So technically brook is going up less weight in comparison to what ggg will be fight night.

Okay but it's still very comparable to Canelo vs Khan overall.

LOL BOTH Khan and Brook are big welterweights. Both Brook and Khan could fight at JMW. The difference is the attributes of each fighter and the weight differential agreed upon.

The criticisms levied against Canelo for fighting Khan was that he was too big for Khan. Khan being chinny was a large part of that, but Khan being chinny didn’t stop PRACTICALLY EVERYONE from wanting to see Khan fight Floyd Mayweather last year !! The people who wanted to see Floyd fight Khan didn’t think Floyd had the power to stop Khan, so therefore he was a difficult stylistic matchup for Floyd. (more difficult stylistically for Floyd than Brook) A lot of people thought Khan had the tools to win a decision vs Floyd or possibly even stop Floyd because of his reach and his speed his ability to land on Floyd in ways others couldn’t.

You’re reasoning as to why this isn’t as bad as Khan Canelo is based fight night weights (which are unofficial and aren’t as important as weigh-in weights) How much water or food a guy drinks/eats after the weigh-in is NOT as important as what that fighter weighs in at. (if it was then Geale wouldn’t have been made unhealthy by having to get down to 157 to fight Cotto and he obviously was !) One is official and one is unofficial and you are putting more importance on the unofficial weight which is where your logic fails. How much a fighter re-hydrates to after the weigh-in is a personal preference. If someone just guzzles 30 gallons of water after the weigh-in it’s not going to make him a better fighter in the ring. It could slow him down if he eats too much or drinks too much water. If Canelo rehydrates 15-20 lbs and GG only rehydrates 10-15 lbs that doesn’t mean Canelo is bigger than GG. It matters WHAT YOU CAN GET YOURSELF DOWN TO AT THE WEIGH-IN. That’s what matters and that’s what you’re true “day-in-day-out fighting weight limits are determined”. It’s clear that Canelo can get himself down to 154 safely while GG can only get down to 160. That and that alone is proof that GG is bigger, and weighs more than Canelo.

You’re saying this isn’t as bad as Khan Canelo due to fight night weights which literally don’t mean anything, aren’t official, and aren’t even required for fighters to do! Golovkin is bigger than Canelo. Canelo rehydrates more after the weigh-in, largely because he’s younger and that’s his preference. Water weight is not muscle / body weight and it doesn’t mean Canelo is bigger than GG, because he’s not. If Canelo were bigger than GG then GG would be able to weigh in at 154/155 and it’s obvious that he can’t get himself down to that weight safely!!

That reality results in Brook giving away more weight to GG than Khan gave away to Canelo. Khan and Canelo both weighed in at exactly 155 lbs, making it an even fight on the scales. We will see what Brook weighs in at for GG. But he’s letting GG weigh more than Khan let Canelo weigh which puts himself at more of a disadvantage in terms of weight / size than Khan was vs Canelo.
