That's it, in a nutshell. But all this means is that Golovkin is still mostly unproven as a top pro. It doesn't mean he can't beat Sergio. It's such an odd clash of styles, it's hard to make any predictions. Naturally, I'd bet on Sergio due to his top-level experience, and also his ability to dictate the pace of a fight. - But Golovkin is smart and powerful, and he has very fast hands. It's entirely possible that he could catch Sergio in a corner and put him down. I'd love to see this fight happen, if it could be soon, but I suspect Sergio will retire before GGG has earned the right to face him.
Golovkin and I know it, Martinez knows it and more importantly Douchebella REALLY knows it. **** it, having let the dust settle on their previous performances i dont think Martinez is getting any younger. That coupled with how comfortably Golovkin dealt with a younger, awkward albiet a less skilled Proksa and i see curtains for Sergio. I cannot at this moment in time think of a fighter that would better prepare GGG for Martinez than Proksa. For that reason i think Golovkin scores a TKO11 stoppage possibly whilst being well behind on the scorecards.
Golovkin stops him before the championship rounds. He gets out-manuevered and kept off balance for the first three or four rounds, then his compact punching, body punching, and one-punch power take their toll and send Martinez a down a few times in what becomes a KO loss for the Argentinian. It'd be GGG's true coming out party. Martinez is nothing even remotely close to being a great middleweight and he has plenty of vulnerabilities that I'd tip a younger, more powerful, and from all accounts, a more durable fighter to expose. Macklin and Barker had a good deal of success and Chavez Jr (who doesn't hit nearly as hard as Golovkin) had him nearly out of there. Golovkin's best opponents haven't been murderer's row, but that said, there have been a plethora of examples in which a guy steps up and comes up big. Not Golovkin's fault anyways that the promoters of complete embarrassment trash like Quillin and the like who are masquerading as top 5 middleweights in this god-forsaken joke of a middleweight era wouldn't want to fight him.
I'm seeing the poll result, but not quite believing it. Yes, Golovkin his hard, but Martinez is on a whole different planet in terms of talent and general athleticism.
