Well done Darren Barker proved himself at world level..

 

Barker is a world class boxer.

I just hope Macklin or Barker can pick up a legit world title belt sometime next year so they can finally have an all British world title clash, they deserve it.

How does getting beaten up during a largely negative performance prove you're world class?

 

He showed he can stick to a game plan,he showed great footwork,agility and made Martinez work for his win.Or perhaps you would have just liked him 2 go in winging and get K.Od in 1.Well done Darren i thought you proved a lot of experts wrong in how you performed and you conducted yourself well.

So, sticking to a gameplan that sees you lose every round nearly and get knocked out is "world class"?

I give him credit for his tight defence early on, but if your whole tactic is to walk an opponent down without doing any damage, then it's pretty pointless.

I think you're being a bit harsh on Barker TBH. It seems to me that you view this performance in a Clottey-Pacquaio or a McCloskey-Khan mould. I personally thought Barker was far from losing every round or nearly every round and I feel if you gave Barker less than 3 rounds you're not giving him enough credit for the work he did. He did far more than walk forward with a tight defence and did more than enough damage to Martinez in the first 8-9 rounds to be scored 3-4 of them.

He proved last night he is a top 10 MW I reckon, and that makes him a world class MW in my book :good

Nonsense - he won two rounds at best. I think you're giving him too much credit for not getting knocked out in three rounds.

 

No, not quite. I'm giving him credit for doing the better work than Martinez in some rounds. Thats how I score a fight. He landed plenty in the first 8 or so rounds and there wasn't much between them at all.
