It's not the right fight for Mosley at this stage of his career I'm afraid. Size (Forrest, Winky), power (Mayorga, Cotto) caused him problems is the past, and Margarito is a huge guy with sick power and 1000 punches, the worst nightmare a fading fighter can have. Other than being able to land a dramatic comeback knockout, Mosley never looked good vs. Mayorga, who is very easy to hit, but for many rounds, it was Mosley who was caught with power shots. Margarito will be simply too much for Mosley in 2009, I hope not, but I think he'll stop Shane. It's not about a great fight plan, which is important and Nazim Richardson is an excellent trainer, but to beat Margarito, you have to fight every single minute at an extremely high pace, which I think Mosley can't do anymore.
Margo will go back to his old self and start slow. Mosley will build a comfortable lead and Margo will have his moments but he'll be playing catch up the entire way. Shane will lose some rounds late but will still take a UD 115-113
Comeback knockout? You can't be serious. It's very hard to look good against a wild Mayorga and when somebody did look good it was Shane.
I think Margarito will wear him down but not without a fight. Shane will probably stay in the pocket and rattle off combinations, rather than retreat to the ropes and get nalied by the marauding Margarito. It will be close up to the end but Mosely will be worn down but should hear the final bell. I'm a Margarito fan, but I'm hoping Shane pulls off the upset.
There is no way in hell that Mosley KOs or even beats AM at this stage in his career. Like someone else mentioned he has KOed a prime fighter in like ages...His speed??? WTF, what speed??? The only way he wins is if AM ages overnight.....Tony is simply too strong for Mosley right now.
I agree I expect Mosley to be up early but fade down the stretch. He won't be stopped but he'll take a beating.
Margarito is going to beat mosley into retirement. It's going to be a slow beatdown. BTW mosley aint a true sugar.
The good about this fight is that We already know Margarito is going to bring it, Shane on the other hand has never been the type to pitty pat his way to a Win, the only boring fights I Have seen shane in was his rematch with Forrest, in which both men were affraid to really get anything going. Margarito is not Forrest he will take risk, so Shane will be forced to fight, and yes I fully expect shane to sweep some of the early rounds, but I think around the fourth or fifth round, Margarito will get into full gear and that work rate and pressure will push shane past his limits. Honestly Shane is a great fighter, but his days are over, if a shot vargas can make shane work in two fights, imagine what a hungry fighter who isnt shot is going to do. Mosley is getting knocked out in this fight, he will retire after this fight........ I agree with the poster earlier in this thread, you all are living in the past, shanes best years are well behind him, Balco and all.
I think Shane has a real good strategy to take it. I think he is saying he is going to do what Cotto should have done, stay in the pocket with Margo and hammer him with counters when he punches, instead of hitting of the back foot and running all night.
Mosley did not do very well boxing against Mayorga in his last fight who was out boxing the boxer, and Mayorga doesnt have the work rate that Margarito does. He also had a hard time dealing with Vargas in both fights who was pressuring him but didnt have the same work rate that Margarito does. Wishful thinking is going to **** you off when you see in the early rounds that Shane is in big trouble.
