Just had a look, quite interesting.

Although absolutely nothing there suggests that potential homophobia within the community has an impact. More to do with nonacceptance from other communities, poorer living conditions and lack of having a permanent residence. The difficulty in accessing the community directly seems to make genuine data collection difficult, mind.

 

To be fair, it's just a theory of mine, but gay people exist everywhere. Take a thousand white kids born in England, a thousand black kids born in Brazil, and a thousand Chinese kids born in China and roughly the same percentage will end up gay. Some of them may need to keep it a secret more than others, but it happens. Nobody chooses.

So if you take a community like Travellers, where the majority absolutely hate gays, and you know, deep down, that you're gay. Well. It must be terrible mustn't it? I'm not saying it's the only reason; obviously dismal living conditions, everyone hating you and so on won't help. But I can't help think it must be a contributing factor.

 

Could be the case. Trans people have significantly higher suicide rates everywhere for similarly proposed reasons. A useful exercise might be to look at the rates in less tolerant communities (not that the UK is really as tolerant as we like to think) to see how it fares.

That said, given the percentage of folk who tend to be gay, I'm not sure that accounts to a suicide rate 6 times as high

 

Good shout that. I'm going to go out on a limb here and assert that Norton doesn't bring that up tomorrow. Or the insta messages. Just a wee hunch.

I was in the audience for this show. When that woman said, "maybe he's (wilder) scared", Joshua followed up his "hmmm" with the squeekiest, most watery fart you are ever likely to hear. He literally soiled himself. They had to get in the cleaners to power wash the sofa before restarting the show. He asked to move on from talking about Wilder as his bowels are prone to weaken at the mention of his name.

On a side note you guys need to see Noomi Rapace’s Netflix movie “What Happened to Monday”. Great film.

 

Really good ending and concept and it’s got Willem Dafoe in a minor role too.

 

They will also be providing figures from the national grid, comparing kettle usage during Corrie and eastenders.
