Riddick Bowe and Max Baer are the closest, but I wouldn't call either that great.

This is hard to say. I think he could be hit, but Foreman, and Lewis and Tyson did not hit him too cleanly. Lewis couldn't get a good right hand on him really. Cooper did because he did that short inside punch. He could be hit, but rarely with the home run punch.

Agreed, Holyfield had one of the greatest slight of head movements in the heavy division. Most of the big shots that he took were glancing shots. When asked what was Tyson's power like, Holyfield said, "I don't know he never caught me" and Tyson agreed. Sorry if I offended anyone bad quote can't remember it exactly, but you got the jist.

I remember that interview and he actually said “he never caught me with the big shots”. At least I think lol

Probably a guy like D1ck Tiger. His defence was his chin and the possibility that he was going to flatten you with one of his bombs.

The word great is being used quite loosely here, as is my choice for a great who was not so elusive that is Sun Kil Moon.

I suppose the takeaway of this thread is true greats have a great defence, one who is criminally underrated for his defence is George Foreman if you know anything about the sweet science you would know that there was more to Foreman then pushing and punching.
