Greater boxing brothers: Marquez (JMM/Rafael) or Klitschko (Wlad/Vitali)

With the recent induction of Rafael Marquez we now have 2 pairs of brothers in the IBHOF. But who is the better duo overall?

You have the Marquez brothers (JMM and Rafael Marquez) and the Klitschko brothers (Wladimir and Vitali), all 4 that are Hall of Famers, 2 of them ATGs. They've all been involved in great high profile fights that were memorable. The Marquez brothers were generally more exciting to watch while the Klitschko brothers were more dominant in their era.

In your opinion which pair would you say accomplished more and has the greater legacy?

 

It's difficult to quantify greatness when dealing with HWs vs non-heavyweights but almost everybody would rather have Vitali's career than Rafael's (regardless of the fact that Rafael has a better resume).

I feel like most people would rather be one of the most important heavyweights ever than a multi-division also-ran for the era as far as JMM vs Wladimir goes.

I have to give it to the Klitschkos.

Definitely the Marquez Brothers. They had Hall of fame skills. Size was a big part of both Klitchkos' game. If they didn't have the size advantage they enjoyed, they would have both accumulated far more losses. I will take skills and toughness over size anytime.

 

The Marquez Brothers were by far more entertaining and fought in divisions where you actually need boxing skill.

 

Marquez's should come back when they are phd's.

 

Yet they are built like 9 year old boys. K.Bros fought in a divison where the hardest punchers alive compete. Big difference.

I was never sold on Rafa for some reason.

 

The Klitschkos dominated the division, they were indeed bigger than many opponents, but not always, and their opponents were not exactly skinny midgets, many of their title bout opponents would dwarf a whole heap of ATGs of the division.

The Klitschkos i say are the greater boxing brothers, but that takes zero respect from the Marquez brothers, just my opinion for what it is worth.

A little side note but both the Marquez brothers lost their first pro bouts, moral of the story don't give up your dream if you trip at the first hurdle.

 

Marquez bros. Wlad should have been DQ'd a few times. and Vitali never had a big win. Also lost to Chris Byrd ffs. Wlad lost to Purity as well...soo

 

Both Marquez brothers were cry babies, but they were great at their craft. The Klits dominated for so long its hard to choose against them here.

 

The Klitschkos. They´d also beat the Marquez brothers 1 v1 .

 

As much as I dislike Wladimir, it is still the Klitschko's. The other pair are dwarfs and their smallness borders on disability.

 

LOL! such a dumb post. Wladimir Klitschko won a Olympic Gold medal aged just 20! & you don't reign for as long as he did without skills. Him and his brother both had elite boxing ability.
