If you can’t see a difference in Holmes physique vs. Cooney and up to that fight and later when he was facing Lucien Rodriguez, David Bey, Michael Spinks and so forth, maybe it’s time for an eye exam.

And if you didn’t think Holmes vs. Weaver and Norton were exciting … we have a different definition of exciting. Also, to a lesser degree, Witherspoon and Cooney. I’d really like to know what heavyweight you thought was in exciting fights if not Holmes.

Holmes always looked like sh!t physically. That he got worse doesn’t mean he ever looked good. It’s true Holmes was in one or two exciting fights (hell, what happened with Tyson someone might also call exciting I suppose, but the Cooney fight was purely the situation, not the bout itself), but he was a very boring fighter & very consistent at it. Nobody wanted to watch him & it wasn’t just for lack of opposition. Lewis had the same problem, but he could turn on & off being exciting. Holmes had no control over it.

Holmes & Lewis would sell if it could magically happen because it would be two great (though both oversold) Heavies meeting, but the fight would be a near-certain stinker.

Put it this way, if it were a movie, it would do well at the box office but nobody would buy the Blu-Ray or ever watch it a second time.
