    yes, I was thinking the same, though he went onto to seal his worth in battles against Good men.

    this has always Proven two things,
    1) that 'True' Good Fighters can win Titles if given the chance,

    2) it also shows that when Titles, Contenders and Boxing Boards are so watered down and void of any credibility, that it gives bragging rights & unwarranted support too fighters who fought no one really and 'won' a Diluted Strap against Diluted contenders or none at all.

    So there are some Jeffries out there, but sadly there are more Audley Harrisons, Fury's and AJ's.

    If it is opened up to thirty fights I would give Papp a mention, but yes McGrain hit the nail on the head inside fifteen minutes.

    Taking Jeffries out of the mix and assuming that this is only about retired fighters I would go with Yoko Gushiken or Yuri Arbachakov.

    I can see how it would be argued either way.

    But I think the combination of the disputed decison he got over Young Corbett, the asterix's around the Gans fight, and his losses, put Jeffries ahead for me.

    That is my feeling also, though it's tight.

    I also suspect that even allowing for p4p arguments and how strange they are now and how much stranger they were then, people would be a bit baffled by the idea of Britt being greater than Jeffries.

    Does Lomachenko count? Yeah he’s still active but he’s got a couple more years to go at best and currently he’s got less than 20 fights and I don’t think he will even reach 25 fights before he retires.

    The caveat is that, there are hints Jeffries had more fights than are on boxrec, in which case he may have had over 25.

    Britt was an amateur champion, so we can be more sure he's actually under 25.

    Evander Holyfield when he fought Qawi and then defended his title. He improved dramatically after that fight.
