Greatest Fighters Never to Win a World Title?

Sam Langford has to be number 1.
I think Packey McFarland is next, followed closely by Charley Burley.

There's some other great fighters, but I'm really not sure who should go next. Who have you got? (or feel free to disagree)

McFarland was much greater than Langford.

 

I've never seen someone hold that opinion. Could you explain why you think it? Is it some of Langford's losses?

 

Heavyweights typically are more famous than lower weights. Read contemporary opinions about both. Packey was basically considered the best fighter at any weight for several years. Langford was just a dangerous contender, winning some, losing some.

Oscar knocked Joe Frazier down twice. He’s one of those guys that I feel if he trained harder may have won something. Norton just couldn’t get it done. But yet isn’t what this post is about? Those who were good fighters that just couldn’t win it?
