i was always told to avoid weights, bulk slows you down and if excessive can restrict your lateral movement, I've come by some trainers though who swear blind that weight training is vital for strength, conditioning and endurance. :huh Each to their own, but if I get the chance to train kids soon (Hoping I will) I'll advise them to avoid weights, and focus on natrual excercises such as push ups, pull ups, tyre work etc.
Bruno was as lean and ripped as any heavyweight I can think of. That Cummings has oversized pecs for the rest of his body. Looks like he benched press alot more than anything else.
I think you are on the right track. I've seen trainers look at muscle bound new kids and the first then they tell them is to get off the weights. You just can't punch as quickly or fully extend the jab with huge shoulders.
By physique judging standards, probably that Larry O guy from the U.K... No, I am not a bodyduilding fan.
Not all weight training leads to bulky muscles! You can train with weights for strength and endurance... Not just for size... E.g. Tyre Work - It's just like using weights.. but it's HOW you use the weights... I have a friend who can bench press over 100 Kgs, but isn't too big at all!
