4 pages and not 1 person has mentioned the late great Johnny Caldwell. Born, reared and died in belfast. Beat Halimi for the title and lost to ATG Jofre.

Dave Mac Auley deserves to get a mention too. World title holder, knocked down frequently but never kept down, balls to burn no doubt

    Steve Collins too

Corbett's parents were Irish immigrants, and he was named for his father's brother, a priest in Ireland. They envisioned a life in the priesthood for their son as well. In San Francisco, they were what was known as "Lace Curtain Irish," reflective of his mother's aspirations to a higher and more respectable level of society than that held by the stereotypical Irish immigrant of the middle 1800s. His "Gentleman Jim" persona was something of a reflection of this, a contrasting backlash against Sullivan's hard drinking saloon brawler image.

McLarnin was actually Irish born himself though, so I'd more tend to favor him over somebody not born in Ireland. (This is not to give short shrift to the Nonpareil, but we have no footage of John Edward Kelly in action.)
