Simon is one of my favorites. I recall vividly when he was on top of the welterweight division he was feared. He was a destroyer. McGirt's victory over him was a textbook example of boxing 101 I'll never forget that. When it comes to Brown I'll always love that guy for putting Terry Norris in his place at least one night. He dropped Norris with one jab.
Greetings RD! I'll have to go back and watch some of the Griffith-Rodriguez fights. It's been many years; gotta see their multi-jab chess match again! Kudos!
RIddick Bowe doesnt get mentioned enuf for his awesome jab. HW's with a great jab are often champs. Wlad, Bowe, Holmes, Ali.
Some of that footage was against Johnny Famechon who beat Harada in both fights and who had the better jab. Famechon threw very few rights and was pretty well a one handed fighter. If you're talking about great jabs Famechon must be included.
Great thread and responses Lads. I have always loved Kenny Buchanan's jab. He used it in so many ways
yes early on. It was interesting how Tommy started to land the harder jab yet Hill was double jabbing more, and Tommy won it. Tommy was just a two handed fighter and Hill was not deep enough for that caliber fighter. Even an older Hearns. The rematch would have been interesting. Hill would have had to be a little more aggressive and Hearns would have had to make it a jabbing contest again and countered off of it without using much of his legs. Hearns was just a better all around fighter than Hill, and the style was not great for Hill.
