Gene Tunney vs Jack Dempsey was one of the greatest ever. Dempsey is often said to be past his best which he was, but Tunney still put on an absolute clinic, winning every single round in the first fight and all but one in the second. Not too many could have done this.

Fitzsimmons vs Corbett is an underated one. Corbett was a little old, but still very close to prime, and it took one super performance to beat an all time great heavyweight.

Max Schmelling vs Joe Louis goes without saying. A simply great performance by Schmelling.

Jack Dempsey vs Jess Willard is a massacre, but only because Jack was simply so good.

Tyson vs Many. He did what he had to in such a good manner against so many good although not great fighters. The Spinks fight in particular although short and never really got going was one of the best performances ever.

Marvin Hart vs Jack Johnson - For all the controversy and arguments from people who never actually saw the fight, whichever way you look at it, beating a prime Jack Johnson had to be one hell of a performance.

Tunney-Dempsey I..often overlooked in favor of the Long Count..but Tunney did what he said he would do, and executed his game plan to perfection...if it were scheduled for 15 Tunney would have stopped Dempsey..I have no doubt about this. If the rematch were for 15 he would have stopped Jack again.

Billy Conn vs. Joe Louis I.

No way was Billy supposed to be there that long, let alone be winning the fight, and bady hurting a fighter, considered to be the 'greatest heavyweight of all-time.

Despite the loss, that was an astounding performance.

:happy Was going to say that aswell earlier - but thought I might get slaughtered by the "you're just saying that because he was a white heavyweight" brigade  As a performance Dempsey's was without any doubt whatsoever THE most savage and brutal and downright vicious ever - and will always remain so - that kind of barbarism will never be allowed to happen ever again in a boxing ring - for that reason I did want to say Dempsey-Willard earlier, so very good shout mate :good

what standing there not throwing punches leaning into the ropes boring as hell. If it was this day in age they would have stopped it and took alis purse from him.

If I had to go for just one, I'd go for Dempsey versus Willard. If we're allowing for the quality of opponent, it's Frazier versus Ali for me, that's a near-perfect execution of the swarming style against an absolutely superb fighter.

Schmeling-Louis deserves its mention, and I think Tyson was awesome against Bebrick. The first is a nice foil for Frazier-Ali, the second a nice foil for Dempsey-Willard.
